I was sleeved 8/21/2015. On the 21st of February I will be 6 months post op. I've lost 96 pounds, HW 359 CW 253 GW 150, I'm 5'8. I started walking about 1 week post op mostly 10-15min around my neighborhood now I have 2 gym memberships (Planet Fitness and YMCA) and I work out 4X a week. 75 min of cardio and usually 15 min of weights. I switch up the cardio between the bike, elliptical, arc trainer, or treadmill with the incline. Once I get in onederland and fall below 200 I'm going to cut down on the cardio and add more strength training for toning. So far I like my results. Exercising plays a big part in our success. I almost remind myself that it's a lifestyle change. Fitness is everything to me now.

Wow that's so inspiring I have a lot of weight to loose and I am being sleeved on Tuesday not long.. ???? I have bought a fit bit and I can get 5000 steps in one go now Goal is 10000 steps. I just can't imagine joining a gym in 6 months but would love to. So thank you that gives me a great deal to look forward to.

I'm about 9 weeks out and I've began to exercise three times a week for about 30 to 35 mins. I was just wondering what everyone else is doing.

I just went through a Bariatric class which taught us about exercise goals. Our goal should first be 150mins a week of exercise. It doesn't matter how you get it, you can do 5mins here and there or set an hour or 30mins per day. Up to you! After you achieve that then set a goal for 300mins a week. As long as you are getting or working towards those minutes then you are doing well. Hope this helps.

I reached my 150 mins for the first time this week and I went to the gym 4 times. That also was my Drs goal that was set for me. I think I'll do this a couple weeks before I reset my goal. I'm 3 weeks post op and did not go to the gym regularly before.

I walk when I could drive, I take stairs when I could take an elevator, I use the elliptical while watching househunters, I walk the dogs. My goal is 10,000 steps a day (usually getting around 6-7000) 20 minutes on the elliptical ( many times only getting 15) 10 minutes on the weights (most times 6 minutes) and walking the dogs around the neighborhood (if it's warm enough). When I miss one I try to make it up on the other. I like choices. :)

Tomorrow will be my 1 month mark. I've been walking 20 min in morning & 20 min in late afternoon for the first 3 weeks & was able to move to 30-40 min straight the 4th week. Except for today, which is the 1st day I didn't feel like walking, so I walked for 5 min!

Has anyone experienced weight gain from going to the gym? I know it's better to exercise for many reasons but boy does it ever hurt when you step on the scales and you've gained a few pounds :/

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
