Vitamix/blenders after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I have a Vitamix and wonder how useful it will be following surgery. I am not sure what to expect during my first few months as to what I'll be eating. I meet with the nutritionist in a few weeks and will find out more then, but I'm curious if any of you use a blender regularly for meals?

I use mine all the time. I especially used it a lot when I was in the pureed stage.

I had a ninja...love it, but for small amts post op and to grind small amts of meats I bought a small $40.00 Cuisinart . It only holds two cups so doesn't take up much space either.

The Vitamix has been so useful to me after surgery.

My doctor recommended that I replace one of my 3 meals with a Protein shake. I use the vitamix everyday for at least one Meal Replacement...usually Breakfast.

I use it with nectar Protien powder by Syntrax. My favorite recipe is one scoop "Fuzzy Navel" nectar with 1/2 cup of Water. 1/2 apple, 1/2 banana, 4 strawberries, a few blackberries, and a cup of ice.

Once you have been off sugar for a month or two, it will taste like a Jamba juice....but without all the sugar and calories.

Between the supplements and the vitamix, I've never felt healthier.

Ive heard no blending right after surgery! It adds to much air into your drink so if your doing it close to post op, let it sit to get the air bubbles out before you drink it.

The one tool I use still is a emulsifier. It takes my homemade Soups to liquid so I'm not stuck on the same stuff. Even vegetables can be emulsified so it is mushy.

I have a nutrabullet and I've put nearly everything in there :). I'm 5 days postop (RNY endoscopic revision) & just 2 days into full liquids but it pulverized the few blueberries i put in my Peanut Butter Protein Shake this morning leaving nothing to strain. Its takes up very little counter space!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
