Five weeks post op and I'm starting to get hungry. I can get about 3oz of food in without any problems. For Snacks I've been doing sugar free Jello since it's only 5 calories and fills the void between meals. By the scale I'm down 34 pounds as of today. I've switched from 3x shirts to 2x shirts and am also down one pants size. a30cc598a89aec9f6d9a387f3563c998.jpg

Hi Tom,

Thank you for sharing your experience so far. Congratulations on the weigh loss and recovery. I am in Pitt and scheduled for Feb. 23rd for the sleeve at Magee with Dr. Corculous. So, I was really grateful to see your post.

Incidentally I just got back from Magee yesterday for a total laprasocpic Hysterectomy. So I kind of had a sneek peak of the place. :) Thanks again for the updates!

Had my follow-up appointment yesterday. Received my first B-12 shot. Was told I'm not loosing at the "normal" rate. We reviewed everything I'm doing and figured out I'm eating to fast. I was explaining that I often feel hungry between meals and I can eat at least 3 ounces at a time. I went home and had 2 oz for lunch and ate it over a 20 minute period and sure enough I was full. So the moral of that story is eat slower.

In good news I'm down 3 more pounds this week.

Another week in. I'm on the routine of chicken, chicken, and more chicken. I've been loosing more or less 3 pounds a week. No complaints. Only advice is eat slow and chew more. 116c933d18769abe560b7912703a5a9c.jpg

I'm officially eight weeks post-op and down 44 pounds. I was worried this week that I didn't lose any. I simply felt fat all week. I got on the scale and learned I actually lost four pounds. 27574643a5c4c2b7713d4859edb8bedc.jpg

Hi there,

I also had my surgery at Magee in Pittsburgh. My surgery date was December 23, 2015 and was performed by Dr. Ramesh Ramanathan. I could not have asked for better care than the bariatric team at Magee Women's Hospital! I started my journey at 213 and at 5 weeks post-op, I weigh 179 (down 34 pounds). I am off 2 diabetic medications and 1 cholesterol pill. I had no complications and am following their program. I am so blessed to live in Pittsburgh and have UPMC on my side.

:D Life is great!!!!

Down 47 pounds since December 1, 2015. I'm just about ready to go down another pants size, I'm guessing next week.

I was wondering about how long it took your doctors office to submit your paperwork to insurance? I finished the program at Magee last Friday and as of today they still have not submitted anything to my insurance. Is that normal??

Congratulatons on the weight loss @@Sgt7546 ! That is wonderful! ????????????????

@@kaylababy1229 I had to call Magee's insurance coordinator often about submitting. They are extremely busy after taking over St. Margaret's bariatic program. I called OFTEN (both them and my my insurance).

Also, I was told that I had a flexible date with my approval. It turned out not to be true. So, be proactive and check with them and your insurance to make sure you have every thing squared away.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
