Finally scheduled! December 14th Sleevers! Started Liquid Diet today - any tips?

Recommended Posts

Hi, everybody! Well, the long road to surgery is almost over...I am scheduled for December 14th! But...all is not smooth sailing before then...I have to get an IVC Filter on December 10th...I am on blood thinners, which means the bridging for Lovenox and Coumadin has to start this Saturday - so much longer on the shots than originally anticipated...but, that's a gripe for another day! I started my 12 day liquid diet today...looking for any suggestions that helped you get through this time pre-op...Thanks all!

@@pezzypooh - follow what your doctors orders are as far as eating.

If you are allowed any liquids see if you can strain the regular soups: broccoli and cheese, chicken noodle, etc. its much better than broth (pre & post-op). Look for low-sodium too.

Get rid of the caffeine now if you are required to do so afterwards. Easier to gradually back off than go cold turkey.

Stay hydrated as long as possible even up to the night before surgery. I was the "first in" the next morning and just happened to wake-up at 11:45. OR nurse in pre-admissions said to drink up until midnight if I wanted - the better hydrated you are it easier on finding veins, etc...

This is the beginning of a journey in life, use it.

good luck and keep us posted.

The pre-op liquids are hard! But you will get through & it will be so worth it. If it's on your surgeons recommended food list, sugar free Popsicles helped me when I was really craving something "normal"

Good luck on your journey!

I have been drinking Protein Shakes two times a day for five months...no gas problems here! Maybe you could try another brand? I use the Premier Protein ones you can get at Sam's Club - recommended by my Dr....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
