Travel for a living and?

Recommended Posts

Hi there I travel for a living and I'm having my survey on the 18, and I am supposed to fly on the 28 or 29th and I know people heal at different rates but I wanted to see how most felt after 10 days and see if they think they couldn't have handled a few 7 hours flights.

hi... I travel twice a month for work. I took a 5 hour flight at week 3 after my surgery. I still used my compression socks (really I still wear them after 8 months) and I did my walking up the aisle every hour and everything was good. I also did lots of leg moves while sitting in my seat. I think if you make sure you move a lot during the flight - you should be fine.

I think ten days is enough recovery time. I just wish you could take some more time off for mental recovery and adjustment.

I travel to for a living. I am taking 6 weeks off. My concern is eating out with clients. Also being in a foreign country if I get ill. The hotels are good but it is a mental thing to. I am hoping that after surgery I get much needed mental health as well as nutritional help. I worry about the small stuff like getting my suitcase off the carousel. I hope I don't tear my newly mended stomach! I hope it doesn't affect my work...

Exactly I am basically all over SE Asia for roughly 7-8 months of the year and the rest of time somewhere in NA. I'm actually concerned to about the eating with clients and you know as well as me that's a deal sealer for us. I just figured I'd order Soup and say that I have a bad stomach etc... Not sure what to say.

Eating out can be really difficult in the beginning and long term. It can be tricky to explain portion sizes as you get thinner. There comes a point where if you say your on a diet people look at you like you're crazy.

Traveling around Asia, one thing you know is that you can usually get Soup.

I travel often for work too and it's a huge concern for me. A lot of my travel is actually last minute, strenuous/long days outdoors in foreign countries.

I have about 4 months until surgery, will keep an eye on this thread for tips.

@ - HI! My travel is usually the same way. I use Quest Protein packs and a shaker in additional to high Protein Bars (like Premier Protein, Quest and think thin) to help as Meal Replacements if I need something for Protein. I have also gotten good at finding good choices in airports - like jerky! And some places now stock yogurt... yeah!!!!

Also - I am no longer afraid to ask for it prepared just as I want it. No starch, double veggie. And bring tupperware.... the to go boxes from restaurants tend to leak!!!

@@jhclikesshopping@gmail.com this is so helpful! Thank you so much. I am so new to all of this. Did you travel at all when you were in a liquid only phase? Or in the post-operative period?

@ - yes i traveled during the week before surgery and then my trip was post 10 days after surgery ( I was in soft food phase - so shakes, Soup and lots of yogurt).

My surgery did not have a liques diet until 2 days before surgery - at my trip I was on a pre-op diet but not liquid only.

I will say - my first trip was hard (I was still building strategies). I am now better at planning. Reach out (send my a message) if you want to talk live about how I travel now.

so glad i found this thread. I too travel extensively for work. I guess many like me, have status on the airlines and in the hotels. I see that as a big challenge and another reason I'm in this predicament with all the nice offerings in the lounges. We travel in pairs (the boss assigns teams at the beginning of the year, and there is a guy in the office no one likes to travel with BECAUSE he won't socialize and always turns down client invitations to dinner and drinks. Now I might see if he'll be my partner for 2016 as that would keep me out of restaurants and such and long happy hours. I'm still nervous about it though. And when I'm not traveling for work, I cruise a lot. Oy vei.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
