All of us went thru it and it gets easier I promise!!!! Try blending your shake with some ice and add some pb to it. Some shake ideas if you have vanilla add some sf cheescake instant pudding to it...tastes like wedding cake!!!!! Experimemt with those shakes.< /p>

A lot of us are shakes 1st week post op sorry i just seen clear liquds for you.

[[[[ hugs ]]]] ---I am 1 week post-op today...and nothing bothered me to this point---until my family inisisted that I carve the darned Thanksgiving turkey! Seriously? Am I the only one that can take a knife and fork to a roasted bird?

It smelled soooooooo good...I did take a bite...the size of a nickle...which was chewed like 50 times.

Personally, I think that today, being a 'food-focused holiday', was a sensory overload for all of us new post-ops.

Protein shakes aren't the same as fruit salad....Jello isn't the same as sweet potatoes

I'm back on track after my miniscule kibble of turkey ;) and hope everyone else fared well today. :)

I'm right there with ya! I'm on 2 week clears but I can have Protein Shakes. However I am HATING them. They instantly make me feel sick. I've gotten in 1 a day! I can't wait to eat purred. I did stick a dime sized bite of mashed potatoes in my mouth. It was nice to feel something in there! Lol

The only way I got through the liquids was with variety:

Isopure mixed half and half with crystal light or Water.

VitaminWater Zero

Swanson Mexican Tortilla broth

chicken broth boiled with carrots, celery, and onion... strained

Herbal teas sweetened with Stevia

Gatorade and Powerade Zero

Decaf coffee with Torani syrups

sugar free popsicles

Meganliz0824,

I feel ya man. I am 10 days post op and for four days I have stepped forward a week and have been having yogurt and cream of wheat. I am supposed to still be on Clear Liquids. I am thinking that since I tolerate it it's ok. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing. I just wasn't satisfied and was hungry. I would love to hear everyone's thoughts. I have felt great through this whole process I am sick of Isopure drinks. I have also had premier Protein shakes and not supposed to yet. I don't know the answer and I really don't want to screw this up.

Liamnatx, thanks for the great ideas!!!!

Yes. I seem to be healing ahead of the normal trend and I know I'm ready to advance. Working in the medical field I'm terrified to advance on my own then have a problem. Only problem is my surgeon did surgeries the week of mine and then went on vacation this week so my appointment is not til end of next week. It's torture.

I had hunger too, but then I realised it was just acid reflux in disguise.

If you're not taking any antacid medication like nexium or somac maybe ask your doctor. I'm taking nexium, and am also taking an antacid when needed.

Curvybrit, I have heard that. I don't feel like I need it, and my doc has not discussed it with me. Maybe I will bring it up at my apt.

You are eating a fraction of the calories that your body is used to. You have nothing solid going into your stomach. Of course you are hungry! Why wouldn't you be? This isn't easy, but you decided to change your life for the better. This is just part of the process.

And like already mentioned, part of it could be acid. Take some maalox and see if it helps. Then talk to your surgeon about taking an H2 blocker or PPI. Most surgeons Rx them postop anyways to help with healing.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
