Guilty as charged, my Dear.

Drinking lots and lots of H20......sorry, I missed the posts beyond the OP.

I'll say this.....I now see where getting all the water in daily is going to be a bit more of a challenge.....just a small bit.

Up until today I was on the liquid diet....protein shakes and water with some occasional broth. Water was easy to drink around this type of "food" intake.

Today, though, was my 4th week check-in with the surgeon. He transitioned me over to his next step.....the soft foods stage.

I loved his quote, "What is hard to get down may not be bad for you and what is easy to get down may not be good for you".

He challenged me to eat 5 meals per day. Flakey fish, bagged tuna & salmon, soft cheeses, even chicken nuggets (the idea being they've been ground and reshaped and if chewed up well, should be easy to get down) and etc, etc.

He stressed not drinking just before, during, or 30 minutes after eating.

Okay....taking the 5 slowly eaten meals and drinking restoration times surrounding them......really leaves no time to sit down and just drink water in between. I'll have to carry a water bottle with me and be working on it all the rest of the available time.

He also suggested not drinking late in the evening as that can contribute to reflux issues.

So today......I was schooled on some useful tactics and finally allowed to eat real food.

Decaf coffee is on my week one list and alcohol is 3 months. Discuss it with your Doctor.

If you are taking your B-12 fatigue shouldn't be an issue.

I went back to drinking coffee 2 weeks after surgery with no problems. I use half and half, and add a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder. I drink one cup a day sometimes a second cup at work. I'm not saying for you to go for it and have one, but it didn't kill me.

I gradually began to reintroduce coffee into my diet starting at six weeks. I'm now just shy of three months out. I mix a scoop of Protein powder into a cup with a little Water first and get into a smooth consistency, then add it into the coffee along with Fairlife milk. (If you pour it straight into the hot coffee it will curdle.) With chocolate Protein Powder it tastes like a mocha. I'd been struggling to get enough Protein in, and this adds a significant boost. Also, not to be indelicate but it resolved my problems with regularity, which in turn has lead to me feeling much better overall. I drink plenty of Water throughout the day. It hasn't caused any stomach issues.

Yup. Good stuff, indeed.

It was one of the few permissible powders on my NUT's plan.

So grateful. This and the mocha version were much appreciated powders during my pre & post op liquid diets.

my program says no caffeine, carbonation or alcohol ever... they had us quit on the day of orientation. I don't intend to cheat because i don't want the ulcers or diuretic effect.

I was allowed 12oz a day starting at 3 weeks out. In fact my nut suggested mixing Protein powder.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
