Me personally, I like not having coffee (or alcohol) any more. I even tried a little of both and don't see any reason to bother.

Wow I swear I wish these guys (doctors) would all come to a very uniformed guideline for what the patients should follow post surgery and for how long. My surgeon and nutritionist had no issue with me drinking coffee. Hell I was given coffee right after surgery. The only thing was that it had to be black and no sugar and Creamer additives for the first 30 days. I'm at month 11 post surgery and I drink coffee about 2 to 3 times a week. Granted I was never really an every day drinker of coffee, I tend to find myself drinking it more during the winter months than I do during the spring or summer.

I'm a nurse. I'm drinking coffee and my surgeon knows. Lol. I straight up said. I will do 6-8 weeks no coffee/ caffeine. I can't guarantee after that time. Lol

So strange how they are all different, mine had no problem with coffee and was fine with it 2 weeks out.

In moderation, caffeine will not cause you to lose any appreciable amount of Water. That was even stated by my surgeon's head nurse.

But given that, I did follow their instructions of not drinking any caffeinated coffee the few weeks before and after surgery.

I also try to consume much less caffeinated coffee now.

If someone is prone to ulcers or has a cardiac condition, then they should follow their doctor's recommendations for caffeine consumption.

I was told 1-2 servings of regular coffee a day is ok. Also keep in mind that tea and many sodas contain caffeine.

You can double those numbers if you switch to half-caffeinated (or make your own) or just use decaffeinated coffee, although the acidic nature of most coffee could still be a stomach irritant.

Plain Water is still the best for keeping us hydrated; I will flavor mine with caffeinated coffee 2 times a day. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
