Lap Band Fills / Adjustment Info

Edie: I have already had champagne. I had not eaten at all though. But I had absolutely no problem. However I just remembered that I had very little restriction. It was practically non-existent. So that may have allowed the champagne go down easily with no repercussions. And I must say it was a very pleasant buzz. (no hangover either!)

I don't know if that is part of why some days I do a lot of pb'ing or what the problem is. I know that I do get so hungry and when I finally eat, it does not feel good for a while, so I certainly don't want to just keep eating. Many people on some of the message boards have told me it sounds as though I need an unfill......but that just aint gonna happen unless I can not get liquid down. My first fill did practically nothing for me at all. I use some natural products that have helped me with sleep and relaxing more. I think it has been a saving grace in me getting over anxious and not being able to satisfy my food cravings with food. I know I do not look forward to food as I once did. I almost dread it some times, but look at it as something I must do. Which if you had told me 6 months ago, that I would feel this way, I would have laughed at you, but then, nobody knows the future. I am losing slow. However, as long as it continues in the right direction, I am ok with it. As little as I eat now, I would think I would lose 2-3 pounds a week, but it seems I am doing good to lose .5 - 1 pound a week.

Wild.........about life.

My band is a 9.75cm. I have had 2 fills since surgery in Aug. and I have lost about 20lbs. not a whole lot but at least I'm not gaining. I didn't gain

it overnight and I have always been a slow loser. I can only eat Soup and

cottage cheese and fruit out of a can, and sometimes scrambled eggs.

I have trouble keeping it down too, but I am not going to get it unfilled

because with the first fill she took some back out and 2 weeks later I

couldn't feel the restriction, I hope this one lasts a lot longer. I know

I am not hungry all the time now, but I still have the cravings. The only

thing I can't figure out is my nerves are much worse now! Have you had

that problem?

You gotta be kidding me. Our bands can get too horizontal?? How does that happen and what is the result? Are there any other symptoms? Like bulging port or something? Not enough restriction because it's not upright?

I have not been checked. My doc just errs on the side of caution and taking it very slow. Maybe if a band slides and gets in a horizontal position, he can tell by symptoms or other tale tell signs.

Tell me all you know about this. I've wondered if I have something odd going on. But then I guess we all do that from time to time. Don't we?

I hope the next fill helps me also. And I wish you the best of luck with yours. After all all we want is to be healthy! Best Wishes and Happy Holidays.

i know this is kind of off subject but if your self-paying for surgery, I know in my case a few fills are included in the surgery cost i was given, but what is the average cost for a fill after that? Im sure someone on here knows, any info would be helpful!

thank you!

I've seen people post that fills cost anywhere from $200 to $1000 each. It seems to run the gamut. You will need to ask your doctor to know for sure.

lauragee and Bjean,

You are doing great! I had my surgery on 8-8-06 and have lost only 30 something depending on which weight i start from (pre diet before surgery). But it is coming off slowly and I am happy during the holidays to still loose bits. I know that since I only need to loose 30 more it will be aslow process. I however am so tight now with my band at 2.5 in a 4cc band that perhaps i am not loosing cause i eat soft more carb foods. At 2.1 i could eat way to much so just a slight adjustment can really make a jhuge differnce. It is an effort to eat meats and most vegetables. After new years if i remain the same i might have a slight unfill just so i can eat properly. I cannot eat more than 1/2 cup and that is a fact! So take your time and enjoy the process.

and to wild97,

I would write exactly what you wrote. We are of the same mindset and situation!!! I dont look foward to eating unless it is some small delicious soft choice! And i dont feel good for awhile. I actually feel sometimes a little acidic. So i have started eating a couple of tums before bed. It makes me feel better right away and the next morning. I wouldnt have believed i am saying this before as well and i am loosing .5 to 1lb a week tooo (<:

Julier

I had my surgery in Aug. too and I can only eat meat with sauce or gravy on it and mainly soft foods. I worry about the long run of eating greasy

meat and stuff since it causes heart trouble but the way I was before

was no better, I was headed for diabetes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
