I was sleeves on May 18th 2015 so I am about 5 months out, I have lost about 65 lbs, I'm not sure where that ranks among others but that's where I'm at. Anyways, I was curious about food intakes. I notice I eat way more now than post op and was not sure if I'm eating to much since I've stalled out. About how many ounces is everyone eating in one setting and are you a grazer??

I was sleeved 8/3 and I concentrate on the Protein, 80-100 gms a day, 800-1000 calories a day, 64ounces of liquid, I do not always meet that, it is hard, and low sugar, low fat. am following the program. I do not eat full meals, except for dinner, a shake for Breakfast, cheese, or salad and hard boiled egg for lunch, tuna 5 oz, sometimes mixed with egg and small amounts of light mayo. snack afternoon, sometimes yogurt and cottage cheese, and then my dinner, 4-5oz of Protein, and veggies, sometimes a snack at night 1 tsp of cashew butter, sometimes prunes. I have lost including preop 42 lbs, which I think should be more, I work out and strength train,4-5 days a week, so I am doing all I can. Good luck hope some of this helps.

Hi - I am 7 months post op and here are my targets.

Calories - 700-800.

Protein - target is 80 g per day.

Each meal is only about 3 oz of food (2 oz of Protein and 1 oz veggie or fruit). And I still have one Protein shake - Pure Protein 35 g per shake.

Here was my menu yesterday.

B Fast - Fage yogurt (3oz) +1/4 small apple (I add a shot of caramel Torani sugar-free Syrup too!)

L - 1 pouch tuna (2.5 oz) with fat free cottage cheese (maybe 1/2 oz) with dill+ 1/2 small cucumber (the lemon cucumbers)

snack - Quest Protein Bar before workout

dinner - Chinese fish stew (shrimp, scallops) and mushrooms and Beans

After dinner - Pure Protein Shake (chocolate)

Hope this help...

I agree 800 to 1000 calories is a good range. You will have a bit less restriction in your sleeve at 5 months. you are able to eat more. Adding your vegetable portion will help you stay satisfied longer. At a year out I can get a full cup of salad in with 3oz of Protein.

here is a photo of a typical bariatric plate. This helps visualize portions. *note* your dietitian will clear you when to add the healthy carbs portion of the photo.

Glad to see this thread. I'm about 4.5 months out and about 15 lbs from goal. In the past week or so, I have been feeling like I need a bit more food. I have been at 800 calories max per day (per my surgeon and his staff), and I'm getting about 80 grams of Protein. Last night after I had some Greek yogurt w/ some Protein Powder mixed in for a snack, I still felt like I needed something, so I ate a few almonds. It put me over the 800 calories... but I felt better. I need to talk to my NUT about where I should be calorie-wise at this stage. I don't want to sabotage my weight loss by eating too much, but I also don't want to mess up my metabolism by eating too little...

Okay, I know your not suppose to compare yourself to others, but dang lauraellen80, you are kicking butt! I started out at 230 and am only 169 at 7 months out. I average between 1,000-1,200 per day and exercise 30 minutes per day. However, I am older (43) and am totally fine with my progress!

Thank you, @akreese02--you're doing great, too!! I honestly did not expect the weight to come off so fast. I truly thought I'd be a slow loser. But I'll take it! :D

I'm 5.5 months out, I was eating 800-1000 calories a day and I stalled for the longest time at 50 lbs. I added 250 more calories to my diet, around 1,200/day and immediately dropped another quick 5 and then 10 lbs, and feel so much more energetic. Made sure my extra 250 calories were high in Protein and little to no sugar. I guess my body needed a little more fuel to burn more efficiently!

I just talked to my dietitian. She said that I could go up to 1000 calories a day at this point, but that if my weight loss started to stall, to back it off to 900 and see what happens. She said I should still be keeping by carbs to 15-20 grams per meal, about 50 grams total per day.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
