My Doctor faked my surgery!

Recommended Posts

My recovery from RNY has been pretty much text book perfect, and I thank my lucky stars everyday! ????

My situation is about the same as yours. I attribute it to being in good general health and having an excellent surgeon.

In fact, I jokingly told the surgeon's PA the same thing yesterday. We both had a good laugh, but I suspect that wasn't the first time he'd heard such a statement. Doing a good job with the surgery can certainly lessen side effects and pain, and shorten recovery.

Until you have proof that your doctor faked your surgery, I think your thread header should end with a question mark and not be a declarative statement.

It appears that you are jumping to conclusions and might want to consider that you could be committing libel.

Are you right to wonder? Perhaps. You sound as though you've already convinced yourself. Asking for a copy of your leak test might be a way to get the truth without burning your bridges with your bariatric team.

Whatever you decide, don't act from a position of hunger, anger or fatigue. Just my opinion but then you did ask us .

My recovery was easy, too. I had no shoulder gas and no hair loss either.

The only opinion I ask was if anyone else was lucky not to have issues. Not anything about my post title adding question marks, etc. Those NEGATIVE opinions based on assumption. In my opinion, you didn't need to respond if you weren't answering my question at the end.

As a blog site owner, we all know that great post titles are the way to get people to read and reply.

I appreciate everyone's feedback that there's it hers who had a successful recovery with no issues.

Except this is a terrible inflammatory title. You have your surgeons name in your profile and you are accusing them of malpractice.

Ruh roh!

I'm working up a head of steam again about message board amateurs who start threads and then whine about what others post in response.

I didn't even stay in a hospital. I was up and walking almost immediately upon waking up.

I did have trouble getting liquids in at first, but i hit liquid goals by drinking slowly.

You should realize that nerves are cut during surgery and about the first 6 weeks post op you can't really count on "how your stomach feels" as you may not be "feeling" the fullness etc.

Yes ma'am. .i too jokingly accused my very skilled doc of faking my surgery. I felt great immediately and still do...no trouble with any foods, no Constipation, no nausea, no vomiting. I just decided to not look a gift horse in the mouth and go with it!

I was sleeved on Sept 10, 2015 ...well at least that's what I was told. I have the scars and even felt some discomfort in my stomach lacerations. 2 night hospital stay and all.

Here's why I'm questioning if surgery was done.

I had little to no pain after surgery. It felt more like discomfort. Lots of gas. I was able to walk and continue to walk every two hours while in the hospital no problem. Since my surgery I have not experienced ANY of the issues I have read about. I have been able to get 64 ounces of fluids in daily since my surgery. Protein shakes..no problem. Today I introduced meats. I was able to eat 3 ounces chewing 30 to 40 times of course during the course of 30 minutes. I was able to get in 3 ounces of sugar free pudding while still getting in my Water with absolutely no feeling of fullness or discomfort. Now. I do not plan to push it and do more than 2 servings of meat and 2 servings of shakes a day but I will slowly increase as time goes on.

So has anyone else experience symptom free after being sleeved or should I call my doctor and ask for proof she performed surgery???

How much weight have u lost ??

Perfectly normal...I think we all may have gotten psyched out by the somewhat morbid descriptions of life after surgery given to us by various folks, including some on this site. I had no pain (except at the drain site), and I had to use extra discipline to avoid advancing my diet too quickly, as I felt ready for solids while not even cleared past full liquids. I think you will start to feel some restriction and fullness. On the plus side, it doesn't seem like you are experiencing debilitating hunger, which is something to take with you and run. So many people don't get that lucky. And I have no doubt that you received a proper surgery. What your description tells me is that you learned the rules well and are following them faithfully...those do not sound like portion sizes characteristic of pre-surgery. You should not be surprised that you are flourishing and experiencing a smooth recovery. It is a reward.

Count me in the "easy recovery" camp too... And my Doc did a 90% sleeve! I tolerated everything well following the prescribed food progression, 2 weeks thick liquids, 2 weeks puree, 2 weeks soft solids, etc. I most def don't feel like he "faked it" though! I'm 2 years out next month and have a perfect amount of restriction!

You also have to be aware how much people hate click-bait. There is a fine line.

No she's not...she explained herself...totally tongue-in-cheek

Actually she's complimenting her doctor! He obviously did a very good job or she wouldn't have posted...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
