I had surgery in Feb, I was told that in the beginning, say the 1st month about all I would be able to eat was a portion about the size of an egg. as the stomach heals and relaxes you should be able to eat food abt the size of 1 cup total by your 1 yr anniversary. Don't rush the process. And good luck!

It's been two weeks and two days since my RNY and I'm able to eat a half cup of pureed food. Then again, I suspect that's simply because I have always healed very well, very quickly. Sometimes I feel satisfied before I finish the half cup, and sometimes the half cup is the perfect amount for me. Still, I don't think you're egg-size portion is abnormal at all. :)

I am 4 months out and struggle with food portions quite a bit. Some days 1/2-1 cup is plenty but other days I am still hungry or 1/2 cup is way to much. I've found that it also depends on the food that I am eating. I am able to tolerate Soups, yogurts and fluids/shakes a lot better than other foods. They key is also eating slowly and allowing your brain to realize that you've eaten, feel full and satisfied. It's hard and I find that I have to pace myself still. It's easy to get back into the habit of eating quickly again. Definately a difficult habit to break.

Oh and keep up the good work!!

I'm on my 3rd week. I had the gastric bypass. I was so sick of eating broth, & now get to eat yogurt, cream Soups, cream of wheat etc I'm trying to still stay at the 200ML that the hospital was giving me. So far it's ok, some days I'm super hungry & other days I won't really eat all day. It's tough to not over eat. I notice I get really hungry when I'm cooking for my family. The smell of food I can't have really gets me. I notice if I eat my soups & drink my protien shake on time throughout the day, it's easier to smell food without wanting to give in. Now I just need to work on excersize, getting up & motivating myself. Good luck everyone :)

I'm 1 day out and still in the hospital after rny. I have been successful aT eating all that they bring me, 1/4 cup in the beginning of cream of wheat, 1/2 cup broth for lunch, and tonight I got 1/4 cup puree green Beans and 1/4 cup puree chicken breast down. It was delish. Took a half hour but had no issues. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
