  2. You are doing great with 40 g protein. I'm a month out, you will feel so much better soon. Push thru this painful first week, I barely remember it now I gained 10 pounds in hospital after surgery due to water weight, swelling. You got this! No regrets!

  14. Had a horrible experience today and want to caution all the newbies (which includes me). I had surgery on Sept 1st. No issues. I'm back to work, had a busy day today at work. I was in Court all day for work with no lunch break (probation officer), so I got home and was going to eat the other half of my sesame chix lean cuisine left from last nite. I was talking to my husband and not paying attention. I obviously didn't chew well enough and took about 3 bites pretty fast. The food got stuck in my throat and would not go down. I tried for 45 minutes to throw it up and made small progress, but more than anything a frothy liquid only came out. Finally after 45 minutes of pain, seriously felt like a heart attack, the remaining food went down that I didn't throw up. I looked at the food that I threw up and it was barely chewed. What the hell was I thinking!!!! This post is a reminder to all to not get caught up in old behaviors, pay attention to what you are eating, slow down, and chew to Applesauce. I never want to go thru this horrible painful experience again. I just kept praying to God to help me with relief. Hope someone takes away something from this post and avoids such an unnecessary experience.

  20. I am a week and one day post op. Glad I took the week off work, mornings are great, afternoons I nap. I can't look at a protein shake at the moment, however I do do protein drinks (taste like punch) but no sugar or carbs, just protein. I am off my pain pills. I can eat 1/2 cup of soups, eggs, oatmeal....that's pretty much my diet right now. I did take 2 bites of a chocolate cupcake and dumped it within a half hr (this was yesterday). Today I woke up with no hunger so I thought I would try coffee and creamer and dumped within minutes. So needless to say, sweets are my enemy which is great because they were my best friend before. Pre op I weighed 271....Sept 1 was surgery and I weighed 262....a week and a day later I am 254. I am on a chewable multi vitamin I take 2 times daily. I have my 2/week check up next Monday.
  21. You are doing it! Great work!
  22. Yes, me too. I think it's the pain meds. I had a dream that the post lady ran right into my car with hers and took off. My dreams are all over the map. Your not alone. I'm almost a week post op.
  23. I'm 1 day out and still in the hospital after rny. I have been successful aT eating all that they bring me, 1/4 cup in the beginning of cream of wheat, 1/2 cup broth for lunch, and tonight I got 1/4 cup puree green beans and 1/4 cup puree chicken breast down. It was delish. Took a half hour but had no issues. Good luck!

  25. Nikikins, you are going to be just fine. Had a great experience, and was up walking around last night by 9pm, as surgery was at 2pm yesterday. The only pain I feel is fas coming up in chest shoulders, walking helps get that moving on out. Take a deep breath my friend, you got this. I will be thinking about you today, good luck!
  26. Had my surgery at 2pm on Sept 1st. It is absolutely painless except for gas in chest/shoulders area. I was up walking around by 9pm. For all those worried, I have a low pain tolerance and would not hesitate to do it all over again, what a breeze. Surgery took 2 hrs, by the time I woke up it was nearly 6pm, and was walking the hall with my IV at 9pm. Hope you all have a smooth surgery like I did!
  27. I'm down to a half hour before I go into the hospital. Starving, thirsty, tired. Can't wait for my cat nap. 2pm the surgeon starts. IV anxiety setting in.....
  28. Surgery tomorrow at 2pm.....thank god because I'm starving to death on this diet!!!!!! It has taken alot of mental strength to push thru, I'm exhausted!
  29. Wonderslim.com. great variety of protein drinks, smoothies, puddings. Free shipping.
  30. Total failure here. Do well until evenings, hope I can turn things around in next 10 days, then surgery date is here. I
  31. Just found this app and I'm already finding it beneficial to read everyone experiences and stories. Anyone out there with surgery on Sept 1st? My 2 week protein diet starts Aug 18th and boy am I nervous. I hope my husband can bare the crabbiness because without food I don't know how I will cope my doctor said I don't have to lose any certain amount of weight before surgery but I do need to do the pre diet. Through my blood work, a stomach infection was found...can't remember what it was called but Dr plans to biopsy my stomach at time of surgery to figure it out and then I will be on antibiotics. I'm getting nervous as I get closer to surgery date, my life is about to change forever. I can't wait to not have to squeeze into a chair anymore, getting a seatbelt on will be no problem, not have to shop for clothes in plus sizes, and most of all being physically active right along with my kids. I don't want my weight to control me anymore, so come on Sept 1st!!!!!
