No date yet. Just starting the process. I haven't told many friends at all about this. The one good friend I did just looked at me and rolled her eyes. It really hurt me when she did that and now I will never bring it up again. She's always dieting and is thin. I think she may be afraid I'll be thinner than her when I'm done. I hope I am!! Lol!

Dawn works wonders in getting the goop out. Cuts the grease like no other. Learned this with my daughter's EEGs.

Hi. I have my consultation today and am afraid I will be diagnosed with this very same problem. I just don't want to delay the process any further but I understand it's for my own good. I to wake up exhausted every day and have suspected for awhile I have sleep apnea as my husband tells me my snoring is terrible. I am so excited for this surgery and I'm impatient. Good luck to you. Do you have a surgery date yet?

Being diagnosed with sleep apnea shouldn't delay the process but help getting the insurance company on board. I was DX'd 10 years ago and it is definitely helping the cause :) but once you are DX'd your surgeon will (should) require you to bring your cpap mask to the hospital.

I have my consult with my surgeon next month so I have been through the sleep apnea test already. I didn't think I had sleep apnea and come to Find out I do. I know once I found in had it I had to use it every night since that appt. Do I use it??? Not really. I understand the importance of it but I work 2 jobs and I do not get any sleep with it on. It's really uncomfortable and it wakes me up every night. It is very quiet and I have the newest version on the machine but I can't get use to it. My surgeon required you to bring it on day of surgery or you will not have surgery. Hopefully you have better luck with it than I do. I have tried different mask and everything but I can't get use to it. Good luck guys!

Soooo can someone explain to me what this "goop" is?? I'm supposed to do a sleep study (just waiting for my doctor's office to call me back with the appt info) and this is the first I'm hearing about goop. Just want to be fully prepared!

The goop is the stuff the use to stick the leads on. They go in your hair as well as on your face and legs. The hair is the hardest to get out. I was told to use warm Water to get it mostly out before shampooing. Hated the sleep study, but probably the most helpful test I have been through. Good luck

@@hilaryglynxo - I loved the ladies that helped me with my EKG. I had to work so hard to keep my heart rate up I thought I would come off of the treadmill. One of them put pressure on my butt so I could stay on and not fall off the end. I bet it would have been funny to watch! lol

The only thing I didn't enjoy was the IV they had to put in to add the dye for the test. (The nurse told me to drink lot of Water next time or drink a Gatorade / Poweraid the day or night before as really helps to plump up the veins.) So I had the IV and dye put in, then waited a few minutes, echo at normal heart rate, treadmill, echo after activity, and then ultrasound.

I am sure it will go well for you :)

Good luck!

Ive been sing CPAP for about 4 yrs, can't sleep without it, makes a world of difference in how rested I feel. It does take getting used to and finding the right mask. I have to use a full face mask because I'm a mouth breather, but once you realize the importance of it and what you are putting your body through everytime you stop breathing....you will make it happen. I personally know a young man 30's that died from sleep apnea....not something to play around with.

#nursegettingoffhersoapbox.

I do look forward to some day not needing it....surgery in less than 2 weeks eekks!!

I will say that when I have not used it I have caught myself waking up gasping for air. Very scary. I use my machine every single night. It's not something to be casual about.

Had my sleep study last week. I thought I slept great. They called today and told me I quit breathing 203 times during the night, 32x a minute. I'm mind blown! I never wake up and think "man, that was a good night of rest!" I always think "man I'm tired" but at least now I know why. I thought I was just a sleepy person! I had no idea I quit breathing. I have to go back now and do the test with a cpap on and I don't know if I'll have to use a cpap from here on out or just for surgery. But this just like is one more thing letting me know I'm making the right decision to have the surgery. I can't wait until I can be healthy and get a good night of rest and not wake up and feel exhausted. Anyone else have any sleep apnea stories or maybe you don't have it anymore since you lost your weight... I can't imagine sleeping with that Loud machine and mask on my face every night

About 11 years ago, I tested for sleep apnea, and found out I did too. You will probably have to start the machine before surgery. I loved it, felt SO much better.. well, I had lost weight and my apnea got a lot better, then I had to get a restudy before surgery, and found it had went away enough that I don't need the machine anymore. I also work out really heavy, and I really believe that makes a difference.

There's nothing to it!! I was scared, too, but it was no biggie at all. Went in, they put in an IV, took me back to the OR, asked me to take a bunch of deep breaths after they put an oxygen mask on me, then they were waking me up saying it was done! It is such a short procedure that they don't have to put you very far under, so you wake up quickly. You'll do fine!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
