What is your daily food intake?

Recommended Posts

What do you eat in a day? How many calories are you getting in? I'd like to see breakdowns of others' typical food in the day.

I'm 7 weeks out (HW 352 SW 338 CW 306) and on the soft food diet. I workout around 1hr, 5x a week. I'm having trouble getting enough calories in. My nutritionist never gave a specific on calories, more focused on Protein however based on everything I've read I'm thinking around 800 calories would be reasonable. I'm not a big fan of shakes, especially mixed with milk, so I think this is where I'm losing some calories. I mix my powder with 0 calorie crystal light so they only end up being around 115 calories.

This is a typical day for me, foodwise:

630 am Protein shake

930 am yogurt

12 pm chicken and/or Beans 1/2 cup

3 pm Protein Shake

6 pm chicken and/or beans, with a tablespoon of veggies 1/2 - 3/4 cup

I've been tracking with my fitness pal and I'm getting around 600-650 calories a day. I know this isn't enough, especially with how much I'm working out.

What does your day look like? Are you able to get enough calories in? If I'm working out an hr/day is 800 calories enough?

I am 5 months postop, get about 600 calories a day. I work with a trainer 2x per week and he kicks my butt, and I can get through the workouts just fine. I also run 30-60 minutes 3 days a week. I eat mostly Protein. 3 ounces at a time fills me up.

That is normal intake for where you are. I am a bit over 8 weeks post op and depending on the day I am around 600-700 calories. You are doing fine!

Oh good, I'm glad to hear I'm in the right ballpark. I "feel" fine. It's just the logic in me saying I should be taking in more.... :)

I'm almost 2 years out and most days I average about 1200-1400 calories. On a major food day I top out at around 1800. I weigh myself every day so if I find that I've gained a pound or two, I drop my calories for a day or two, and then I'm right back to my normal number. Weighing everyday is the only way I can maintain, otherwise I will gain and find that my butt is suddenly too large for my pants.

I'm seven weeks out as well and average around 600-700 a day. There have been a handful of days I've been higher or lower (500 or 800), but 600-700 is pretty typical.

The Protein level is more important than the calories. You want to get as well rounded a eating plan as possible, but the emphasis needs to be on meeting those Protein goals. from day 1 - 6 weeks I averaged 400 - 600 calories and 60 -70gms of protein. from 6 weeks to 9mths I averages 600 - 850 calories and 70 -85gms of protein. Currently I aim for 800 - 1000 calories and 85 -100gms of protein daily. I typically exercise 5 - 6 days a week 1 -2 hours at a time.

The most important thing for you to focus on is the Protein and liquids goals at this stage.

I too was never given a calories goal and thought it was simply crazy so I do track it using my fitness pal.

My nut has taught me that good carbs are important in your diet as well so I use the strategy that she shared with me. 2 bites of Protein for every one bit of good carbs. I see a lot of folks that stay completely away from carbs and you need those in your diet as well. I simply stay away from non value added foods as much as possible.

Here is how things looked for me through the stages

First 3 months - 70 - 85 grams of protein, 400-500 calories daily

4 months to current - 70 to 85 grams of protein, 800 - 1000 calories daily

I am 10 months post op. I see a lot of folks have higher protein counts but my nut wants to keep me around 70, 1 gram for every inch I am tall.

I push it a bit higher because I lose more however I have a history of kidney disease so I have to be very careful about going beyond what I am currently getting. My BUN (kidney function) is elevated with what I am currently getting and I try not to stress my kidneys.

I'm a year out and am eating between 1,000 and 1,200 calories a day. I usually have a couple of prunes ,an English muffin with goat cheese or Peanut Butter and a cup of coffee for Breakfast. lunch might be yogurt with 1/4 cup frozen fruit. A snack might be a hard boiled egg or 6 triscuits with hummus. Supper is usually chicken, pork or fish with some sort of veggie and then usually 1/4 cup cottage cheese or a grain(couscous or barley). And then a fudge bar or some sort of Protein before bed and of course 6-8 glasses of Water.< /p>

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
