21 days Post Op and having a lot of mucus

Recommended Posts

I was banded on May 20th and I have had this mucus issue since. I went to my post op doc appointment last week but forgot to mention it with all my other questions I was asking - LOL. Now I am getting to the point I can't hardly enjoy my food cause my mouth fills with the mucus and I can't swallow it along with my food so I just spit it out. If I feel thirsty I get a lot of mucus then too.

Has anyone experienced this? I am getting really tired of spitting up this mucus especially when it is really thick. It is clear so I guess that is one good thing. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

it's not mucus but slime created by your esophagus. you are eating to much at one time. your pouch only holds about 4 ounces at a time. So my advice is to eat much much smaller amounts at a time, chew each mouthful thoroughly, and take time between bites. all of this allows the food you are eating time to process through your band into the stomach.

Hi there, I would call the doctor -- don't wait this out. It sounds like you had a primed band -- Fluid in the band at the time of surgery. If you are sliming then maybe you are too tight.

Try drinking hot tea, it breaks up mucus.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
