You will need to coordinate this between the Dr. who prescribes your meds and your surgeon. Let your surgeon know what you are taking and he can let you know what to take the day of surgery. I was able to take everything the morning of surgery at home and then they gave them to me while I was in the hospital.

I was taking acid blockers and any meds from the first day home. Even my pain pills were in pill form.

I am bipolar and need to take medications in the morning and in the evening. pills. Will I be able to do this right after surgery?

Not sure if it's the same everywhere...but your doc or his/her office should tell you that....in my case, when I did the pre-op testing about a week before surgery, we went over all my meds and they told me which ones i could take that day. I had even had everything (almost) changed over to liquid or chewable beforehand. Once you are admitted, they will take over your meds...amazingly, I was actually able to take the pill form of my super needed ones (my morphine and lyrica) with no problems...just one at a time with tiny sips instead of taking them all :)...but again, ask your docs office and make sure they are aware that those are ones that you cannot skip...they should be able to take it from there!

Good luck!

Definitely talk with your doc, but I was given my meds the morning after surgery in pill form. I had no issue getting them down. I was able to take several pills in one swallow before surgery so maybe I just mentally figure I can take them easily one at a time now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
