Sleeve June 8th, son'a graduation June 27

Recommended Posts

Hey any tips on how I may feel a week after sleeve? My son is graduating from high school the week after my surgery and I really don't want to miss anything. Do you think I'll feel ok by then to dance with my handsome son?

My first week was HELL WEEK. I am in my third week right now, but everyone is different. You may want to postpone your operation until after his graduation. If you don't make sure they give you meds for the stomach spasms and nausea as well as your pain meds. Good Luck!

Everyone recovers differently. I had a pretty easy recovery and felt great and like myself again in 5 days.

Hopefully yours will be uncomplicated too.

I am wondering the same thing. My surgery is June 8 and my son is graduating university on June 15th. My problem is that the ceremony is 2 hours away and my son needs to be there 2 hours before it starts. The ceremony is for several programs and could last 3-4 hours. That could mean it will be a 10 hour day away from home one week after surgery. My surgery was booked for several months before we knew the graduation date and cannot be changed now as it took a lot of planning to get time off work.

Cross your fingers ladies, and hope you have an easy recovery! I was able to reach my Protein and Water goals by day 3... then each day after was just way better. I was back to work in one week. I had some lingering soreness and tiredness, but otherwise felt great. It is hard to predict how anyone will recover... I figured I would bounce back fast because I have after other surgeries.

I week out my daughter had a wedding dress fitting. I went and sat but was not feeling well. I went back to work at day 8 and only worked a few hours for the first few days. Once my drain can out I was ready to go. Keep Water with you your stomach meds handy. Good luck.

Postponing my surgery isn't really an option. I've been waiting 6 years for this so don't want to risk losing my spot. (I'm in Canada and medicare covers bariatric surgery)

Hoping and praying I behave and let things heal that first week.. I just can't miss this...too important!!!

Everyone is different. I was shopping in the mall 5 days out and I even had Panera Soup for lunch. So follow orders of the dr. As what they suggest. Most Likely it will be ok and you can always have someone else drive and be with you.

I had no drains, no ill side effects and was able to walk with no problems. Only issue I had was my youngest brought home a stomach bug 9 days out. Now that was an issue. I ended up in ER. So avoid anyone who may have a cold or anything. Use lots of hand sanitizer

I was pain med free and doing great 5 days after surgery. And 2 weeks after my surgery had to take my son back to college which is a 4 hour drive one way and did fine. But not everyone recoups the same. I definitely didn't expect to be doing as well as I was that soon after.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
