working out and not losing weight

I agree with the above statements first of all you are going to have stalls second of all you cant burn more that you are eating or you will go int starvation mode and thats not healthy. Speak with your doctor as well I know that I have had several stalls and I am 1 year out and went from exercising 2 hours three days a week to 7 days a week and had to increase my food intake as well as take 1 day off per week from exercising because your body needs a rest period as well. I still get in my 2 hours per day though. Good luck.

@@trulyamazingtoo may 26th today.... I bet that scale started moving again. our bodies are amazing machines and they work in mysterious ways. although your scale may not be showing a number, I bet you are seeing results in a different way such as the way your clothes fit, or that tasks that use to be tiring are getting easier, etc. keep at it. it is a marathon, not a sprint!!!

@@Rovobay yes I am down to 165 now. I lost 7 pounds fast when I didn't work out for a week.

@@trulyamazingtoo I try to always drastically mix up my routines... I don't want my body to get use to what I am doing and adapt to it. taking a week of from the gym is an excellent idea!! I have also done fasting days (keeping calories under 600), massive workouts, and cheat days (eat whatever!!!).

I'm burning way more than I'm eating and I'm losing.. stalls will happen though.

Well, obviously, to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you eat. That's basic math. However, if you are burning more calories through intense exercise alone, than you are eating, that is a form of anorexia (anorexia athletica) and it can cause severe health issues and drastically slow your metabolism. So if you are eating 1000 calories a day, burning 300 through exercise, and 1200 through just living, then you have a 500 calorie deficit and you will lose weight in a healthy way. If you are eating 1000 calories a day, burning 1000+ through exercise and 1200 through just living, then you have a 1200+ calorie deficit and may be doing serious damage to your health and metabolism.

Just a couple of thoughts from an old grizzled "veteran".............

1-Please, please do not put stock in what a machine says in regards to how many calories you've burned. There are studies out there that prove not only are nearly all of them wrong, they are VERY wrong and way off. Though it seems we're crazy tired and have nothing left while doing exercise sometimes, we're usually over-estimating how many calories we've burn, and in turn think we have more to work with on nutrition.

2-Carbs can be good or bad......depending on what kind we eat and when. I TRY to stay away from simple carbs (sugars, flour based foods). Good carbs like broccoli, oats and even some brown rice can be beneficial if used in moderation. The first meal after a hard workout, you need those complex carbs along with lean Protein to help your body recover and even grow muscles if you've engaged in a lot of resistance training.

3-In regards to my last sentence in #2.....any carbs more than what our bodies need to operate and maintain organ function, will usually result in gain of body mass. Simple sugars, especially at night, more than likely will be fat gain, or for those a few months post op, slowed fat loss. Complex carbs after a taxing workout, will help build muscle (along with the protein). For me, I'm ok with that kind of mass gain, but we need very few carbs to do this and usually the meal, or maybe 1-2 meals after a hard workout.

4-To simplify, exercise and eat reasonably and try to eat to support your fitness goals, if you have any. I try to look at food as fuel for my body and for exercise. I don't want too much or too little, but I also don't want to let the number of calories control my life, which is one of the reasons I got the sleeve to begin with.

5-Try to determine which numbers are more important to you. The numbers on the scale? The number on your body composition (body fat%)? The numbers in running a 5k? The number of pounds lifting at the gym? For me, I don't worry about the number on a scale since I like ti lift. The number on the body composition is where I focus. In other words, weight is not my issue, fat is my issue and concern, so I like to keep it low.

All of this.....is just my opinion, which is based on my experience and the research I've done. With that said..... we are all so different and our bodies react so differently, especially to carbs, so somtimes it's a personal trial and error with your individual physiology.

I had some serious problems too with losing weight, I went jogging almost every day and done about 50-70 min long runs. And with that done some yoga and exercises at home and still I couldn't lose weight. I was able too keep it the same and some times it even pounced up few pounds. But now after just few weeks I tried a new program what I found from a website that I randomly came across i when searching for tips for my weight losing problems.

Something called Beta Switch got my attention it sounded pretty good and after read some user reviews and some commends from people who really had tried that out I started to think it will work. And like I said after these few weeks I have lost about 8 pounds now and looking good. On that website I found was few other promising programs too but I though this will work for me because I have battled with my fat tights trough my hole life, if I remember right that site was called cherrytide.com and it sounded pretty good too. Now on my way closer and closer to fitting in my old jeans which I have saved from times when i was still pretty skinny.

Keep it up people you are not alone struggling with you weight!

See, undoubtedly going to the gym brings out some of the positive results but after that when we leave the gym in between we got to get covered with an unknown fat & gained wired muscle which can actually bring body to a weird situation thus which cannot be fulfilled by any of the gym instructions. so, in my opinion you must go for the African dance workout as it is much effective and also much easier to learn. You can also look for the videos online as they have their completely maintained website on the internet which help people to know more about them and also it allows them to get classes at the home itself..

See, undoubtedly going to the gym brings out some of the positive results but after that when we leave the gym in between we got to get covered with an unknown fat & gained wired muscle which can actually bring body to a weird situation thus which cannot be fulfilled by any of the gym instructions. so, in my opinion you must go for the African dance workout as it is much effective and also much easier to learn. You can also look for the videos online as they have their completely maintained website on the internet which help people to know more about them and also it allows them to get classes at the home itself..

      Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs. 
      I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm. 
      I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order. 
      My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

      Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
      Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
      A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.

      I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
      Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

      Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
      I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
