Good evening to all ????

How long did everyone have to take their pain meds after surgery? I have a little one I have to take care of during the day and needed to know what I'm looking at, with being able to take my meds.

I was home by Wednesday and took my last dose on Friday morning. Honestly I did that because all of my pain was from the gas they pump into your belly and pain mess do nothing for that pain in my opinion.

What works is:

- walking around as much as possible

- using a heating pad (this actually works the best)

- chewable gas x tablets

- sipping as much liquid as you possibly can

For me the gas was gone by Sunday which was just 6 days post op.

Good luck on your surgery!

I filled my prescription just in case but did not take pain medication as I don't like the side effects. Even still I had to deal with constipation at about day four or five; wished I had gotten ahead of that. Walking really helped me, windmill arms, the Happy Baby yoga pose when in bed. I used a heating pad at times as well as icepacks for incisional pain. Be sure not to pick up your child until your are healed up! Congratulations on choosing to get healthy and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I filled mine to, and thank you for well wishes.. I definitely won't pick my kid up, and I bought a new heating pad/spa blanket type heating pad, and good idea on ice packs for incisions..

It's definitely good to know that I won't need pain meds. I know how they make you feel on an empty stomach and with not eating much after surgery, that'll be the case..

I took no pain medicine after I left the recovery room. Pain was very minimal. But I may be an exception to the rule. Prior to surgery, I walked at least 30 minutes each day for several months and after surgery I walked (100 lapse during the 2 days after the operation while I was in the hospital). The walking really helped with the recovery process.

I'm definitely doing the walking thing as soon as they let me, I'm so glad to know that it'll make gas pain dissipate faster!! How long did your Doc have you in hospital?

I didn't need narcotic pain meds when I went home 24 hours after surgery. I did fine chewing up a couple of Tylenol Jrs for the first week. Pain was so much less than I expected.

They sell an adult Tylenol liquid that works great. You can take it every 4 hours. Just make sure you take it by the clock.

That plus the heating pad should be plenty for you after the first couple days. Best of luck!! :)

I was in the hospital for 2 days. That was too long. I was ready to go home after 1 day.

So my surgery anniversary date is on the 24th of this month, but I had my 1-year follow up early with my surgeon this morning (I have another 1-year followup at the hospital on Monday to get my bloodwork and labs done).
Anyhoo...my surgeon was very pleased with my results (and so where the office staff apparently, because 3 of the front desk ladies came by my exam room to give me props/high fives/generally gawk at me).
But get this: he asked if I would be willing to come in for a future photoshoot so that I could be on a poster! And I was all, ummmm....no thanks, LOL.

I guess I could, but the idea of being out there for all to see just skeeves me out! Nope, not for me ;)

Today was a really tough day and I turned to food (and a watered down glass of wine). The interesting part was that I felt REALLY full after eating half my go to cheat snack, tortilla chips with cheese. So the GBP is doing its job!

Click on your pic/name. A list will pop up and scroll down to “my surgery”. You can change Surgery specifics there.

To adjust weight stay on that same page, look left and click on progress. Voila!

The only way I can tell that I'm losing weight is from the scale and my clothes "getting bigger".
