This is hard....

Whoever said WLS surgery is the easy way out should be slapped. I'm so frustrated with trying to get used to this. Trying to get in 2 Protein Shakes without it taking me 6 hours each! Plus Water or tea or whatever. And forget trying to actually eat something in addition to that....oh and throw in the bucket of chicken my father thought would be an awesome idea for everybody to eat right in front of me lol!!

Sorry for the rant.....but I need help! (Not with the chicken part. I thought it was rude of them but I got over it lol)

I can't help but smirk when I read this. I went through the same chit. Lol

I know it's hard. Gets a little easier each week. Some faster for others. I am 6wks and guess what I had for dinner? Greek yogurt. That's it. Why? Cause I was feeling like u. Solids are still hard for me.

You have to build up to it. Getting in both my Protein and fluids was a challenge fore me at first until I figured out how to do both.

I was most successful starting the day with a high Protein shake. One scoop of either CVS whey Protein + a half to a whole cup of Fage 0% greek yogurt using ¼ cup of Water and lots of ice gets me 30 - 40gms of protein. Using the ice and Water works towards my fluids and keeps the shake from being too thick. The yogurt and water keep it from being sickly sweet. Even in the very beginning I could drink this in under 2 hours.

This means I had the rest of the day to get in the rest of my protein and time to drink some water without feeling like I'm drinking all day.

I figured out that I can only tolerate the Premier Protein if its plain. No extra anything in it. But for some reason it still takes me forever to drink it.....its only 11 oz! BUT I can drink Water or diet snapple much faster....its weird.

It does get better!! I'm 6 weeks out and each week is easier.

I found that adding fat free milk to the Premier shakes helped me. Otherwise they are too thick for me to stomach easily.

Also, for something different, I would heat a Premier chocolate with Some milk for a "hot chocolate". That is now my morning ritual (instead of coffee).

Hang in there ????

it was a full time job for me the first several months ! the first month I swear was the longest in my life! it was exhausting to drink all freaking day. I agree with ya! I had a few word terms to say the first few months! others do need to be slapped silly when they make them comments! theres no easy about it absolutly!! it took me 4 months to eat scrambled egg, I didnt eat grilled chicken or nothing heavy for 4 months. I stayed with soft things for a while. Im 7 months PO an still only get about 5 or 6 bites an its small bites. I put fork down for 5 or so minutes rest an then maybe 2 more bites an Im done. but I dont care. I will never eat my "past normal or others normal amounts" ever again. thats what got me fat to begin with. so I eat till I feel full an stop. push away an Im done. its very hard. I know. hang in there! its worth it!!

I thought I'd NEVER be able to get in more than 24 ounces of Water a day, but I'm 4 months out and I am finally getting in 60 per day, along with 2-3 Protein Shakes.< /p>

It gets better, I promise. I felt the exact same way. I had no idea how it would become a job to drink and I still couldn't meet my Protein or h2o quotas. It took me about 6 wks post op until I finally was able to get in my liquids. I was terrified to try new foods. My husband really helps me. I am almost 2 months post op and I can only take in about 1 1/2 oz at a time of food. I snack on fage 0 with a packet of stevia, 1% milk, and the Premier Protein (premade) is the only Protein Shake I can get down. Take it one day at a time. It will get easier and you will be so thankful you did this for yourself. I'm proud of you, it sure isn't easy.

It's so hard!! I right there with you... It's hard to stay positive but if you don't, you make it worse for yourself.. I just think back to times I would pig out and feel disgusting and horrible. Yes it tastes good and it's so comforting but then it's over and you feel like crap.... Take it one day at a time. I'm 3 weeks out and I still only get 2 -8.25oz Protein Shakes a day. Sipping Water in between and maybe one bite of food. That's what it is. Yes, we go through regret but this was a permanent decision and now all we can do is make the best out of it... Hope you feel better knowing I can REALLY relate.

Worked like a charm for me.....except I had to keep reheating it lol! Takes longer than"normal" to drink it so it kept getting cold. But at least I could get it all down.

@@Jazmundo permanent is right! I laughed with a friend at how I got full off of less than 2oz of food today. But yesterday....whew Lawd!!! I was going through it! And the fact that I didn't even try to get in Protein wasn't helping. But lesson learned. I'm figuring this thing out one day at a time.

Gag! Protein shakes! I struggled so hard with them! The easy way... What a laugh! Don't stress. Just do your best. If you don't get in all your hydration and protein in the early stages, you're not going to die. (I didn 't anyway.) It'll get easier, I promise.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
