I have started my journey in July 2014 and I am still waiting on getting my surgery date, so I feel you. I like the idea making lifestyle changes pre-surgery. It gives us something to do other than wait for our dates to be give. I wish everyone luck with their journey too. ;)

No that is the waiting list here just to get the first appointment with a surgeon. then it takes months to go through the process. I live in Canada. The access to Bariatric surgeons is not as easy as other countries. :(

Oh wow. That sucks. I know a lot of people travel to Mexico for it.

You have made me appreciate my short six months then.

Help! When I weighed in on my first visit I was at 43 BMI, so I cannot lose a lot of weight and still qualify for surgery (maybe 10 pounds). Anyway, I have been gaining weight at a RAPID pace since the visit. I don't know if I am in "last supper" mode for these six months or subconsiously trying not to lose too much, but I am getting more miserable than I already was. I can't stay like this for six months. What can I do to find a balance where I keep the weight I need for the surgery and not gain more?

I'm tracking my meals on MyFitnessPal.com. Are you using something like this to track what you eat? If not, maybe this will help you find your balance. Hope this helps!! :)

I am going into month 4 of 6. I am like the rest of you, just want it here and done. I have been working on Portion Control and trying to feel when I am satisfied instead of full. I dread drinking/eating too much after the sleeve and having that intense full feeling. So, my focus has been on that. I hear you go through the food mourning phase so mentally preparing myself for that. I have narrowed down HOW I got overweight and found it is portions and lack of exercise. I look for that balance. I was told my surgery should be around the end of May. Anyone else?

@@dadempsey - I'm the same, lack of exercise & Portion Control. I did the math for myself & think I'll finish my six month appts on May 21. By the time its submitted to insurance & approved, two week preop diet, preop appt & two day liquid diet; I'm predicting June 18 surgery. It will be interesting how close I am! Good luck on your journey! :-)

@@vixen1978 I am in the same boat with a BMI of 40.7. I have been tracking my food as @@mclorrie mentions. I would like to loose 5 pounds during the 6 months, but more than anything my goal is NOT to gain any at the end of the 6 months. I did gain 1 last month. :( I hope to be sleeved mid June as well. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
