Hyperactive Bowel sounds

Recommended Posts

Day 3 postop and my gut is just a rumbling. Is this gas that will pass or is this more long term? I think I remember seeing comments about this but dont recall the answers. Im taking gasx chewables and walking. Help?

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I did have a colon resection done, a year ago due to a perforated bowel. I went many days without any food obviously, and after the surgery and started introducing even Clear liquids I had lots of bowel sounds, they say that's good. Having sounds is way better than no sounds at all. It means things are working and moving, and that's a good thing. I hope this helped a bit, of course if you have pain, you should call your Surgeon. I hope you get to feeling better soon! :)

It is normal - walking around and moving is the best thing you can do at this point. later it will depend on what you eat but it got much better for me. I do have Gas-X pills and use them often especially if I eat something at lunch and have to walk into an afternoon meeting. All of this will get better as it heals and is able to tolerate foods again. I am 8 weeks postop and it's been so wonderful. Good luck and follow the post op diet!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
