Hello-

I am 12 days post op and have been doing very well. I am able to get in my Protein (50-70g) each day. I am able to get my Water in - barely. Usually coming in 64-68 ounces each day. Since the 3rd day, I have felt good most of the time. Everything looked great for my surgery fup on Day 6. My problem is that around day 9 I started feeling very weak. I went to my Primary Care on Day 11 for my first visit since surgery and my BP was 90/50 so my BP meds were cut in half. I figured that was the issue. However, Day 12 same thing. I was wondering if it is just due to the super low calorie count. It looks like I am only getting in around 450 calories per day. Should I look for some higher calorie sources for my protein to get some more energy? Or possibly add a meal a day? Or could this be something else? Anyone experience this?

I had the same issue and today I am three weeks post op. A few days ago I started taking in under the tongue dissolvable b-12. The no energy went right away! And I feel great!! It's a naturemade brand I believe.

You are lacking a lot of nutrients right now. It's impossible to get everything you need in 450 calories for the day. Be sure you're getting all of your supplements in as required along with doing good with your Protein and fluids. Believe it or not, getting up and walking around often helps too. Probably not at the moment it's time for you to get up but after you will have some energy. sublingual B-12 is super helpful as mentioned above. But not only that, get your multi-vitamins in with minerals, get some electrolytes with your fluids and maybe bump up your protein a bit.

Thanks @@gabbys_mom and @@LilMissDiva Irene . I have the B-12 sublingual. I used to take it prior to surgery. I am getting all my supplements in but I only have the multi-Vitamin and Calcium now. I go back on the 23rd with a blood draw on the 16th to disuss adding other stuff back in that I had prior to surgery (Iron, vit d, etc). I will check w/ my nurse and add the B12 now if okay. I will also look for some other drinks that might have some electrolytes.

Thanks again!

Agree with all the above but, also remember you just had major surgery. My energy didn't come back until week 5 post op. Hang in there, it'll happen:-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
