Feeling full

Recommended Posts

Hi there, the links below in my signature really helped me understand the difference between being full and being satisfied. Especially for volume eaters, it's important to know the band isn't there for capacity limitations -- it's really about dimming the appetite. My signals for satiety vary and I have to listen. I have to be in a noticing place -- mindful. Sometimes it's boredom for me. I find I am keeping that bite of food in my mouth a long time and feeling sort of ambivalent. That's my signal that I'm done. Sometimes I will have a sigh. A hiccup for me is a danger signal -- I've eaten too fast and/or too much.

Like Bandista, I watch for "enough" instead of "full". My soft stops are a hiccup, a burp, the thought that the bite I just had wasn't really necessary. I slow things down sometimes by getting up mid meal and going to the bathroom. That five minutes lets my body recognize it has eaten some food already, and many times when I come back to my plate I'm able to recognize that I'm already done.

@@JustWatchMe you just gave all of us a great tip!! Getting up mid way through your meal to give your mind a moment to "talk" to you!! I'm going to start doing this! Thx!

My signs vary. I really have to pay attention. Most of the time its a burp but if I'm working while eating or am distracted with something sometimes I'll go too far and that stop right away feeling is pain in my left arm from my vargous nerve.

Do y'all never eat until you can't digest and throw-up what you've already eaten?

Thanks Bandista for pointing out the links in your profile. I was just searching for the Eight Golden Rules page, and I found it now and have bookmarked it!

I'm in the process of finding my green zone so I'm still learning what "enough' feels like. These insights are very helpful!

No! And that may be one reason why I still have my band after almost nine years!! Not many people keep them that long. I hope to keep mine for a very long time!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
