I had my first coffee the other day and I am 7 weeks post op. I had Decaf and Zymil (lactose free milk) as I seem to have developed an intolerance to lots of dairy. I had about half a small cup. Didn't want to push it in case it was another thing that doesn't agree with my tummy. I had no sugar but would probably like sweetner next time

My coffee is one of the major ways I reach my Protein goals. I could NEVER tolerate shakes. I just could not get them past my nose. Not sure why I thought to try it but early on I mixed 1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein powder, 1/2 scoop of chocolate Protein Powder in a large mug of coffee every morning with fat free french vanilla creamer and Splenda. It is one of the best mocha beverages I have had. Even more than a year out, I still start my day with a cup every day. I'm already looking forward to my morning cup.

How hot is your coffee when you mix it?

I have my coffee routine down to a science. I take the large mug and put a little hot Water from the tap to dissolve the Protein powder. I add the liquid creamer and Splenda and mix it well. I then add the coffee straight from the pot stirring constantly. I have never had a problem with the Protein clumping from getting too hot. I did when I tried adding it to Soup one time..eew not very appealing but I have never had that issue with my coffee. I guess the refrigerated creamer keeps it in a good range. I sometimes will even put it in the microwave for another 30 seconds or to make it hotter.

Regular caffeinated coffee daily with a scoop of body fortress vanilla Protein and a shot of hazelnut or caramel sugar free Syrup. Coffee is fresh off the brewer when I make my drink. So quite hot. Body Fortress mixes in the best of all the brands I've tried. Other brands don't mix very well without me pulsing the mix in my blender. Don't like going through all that.

Living in Australia - There's an espresso coffee shop every second door you walk through. I haven't even given caffeine a thought...... Maybe I'll give it up/cut down before my procedure. I don't really want to go through caffeine withdrawals post op.....

As for Decaf - why bother.

I have a large cup of Decaf every day with a scoop of GENEPRO Protein, a couple of teaspoons of powdered creamer, and an ounce of Jordan's Skinny syrups in Caramel. LOVE it!

My surgeon allows regular coffee on discharge. I drink it black usually 2 cups in the morning. Never had any issues.

My surgeon allows coffee but others in the same prac do not. Helps with early Constipation they say.

Either way at first I couldn't do the coffee even a little. Everything I ate and drank needed to be room temp or like warm. I couldn't do anything too hot or cold with my new sleeve.

Almost 4 wks out-I am back to work and have a large iced/hot coffee every after noon. Now it's black with two sweet n lows and I put in my own 2-4oz of store bought sugar free/fat free flavored creamer. Yum!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
