I called my insurance company (BCBS of TX) yesterday to see how the predetermination was coming along, only to find out the Dr. office did not submit it!!!! I called Dr. office to see what was going on and they had a "glitch" in their new computer system and it didn't submit on 1/2/15 like it should have. So, they tell me that we may have to postpone a couple of weeks because their experience is that it usually takes 4 weeks for the insurance to respond. GRRRRRRR!!!!!! So, my question is this- do any of you have any thoughts/experience on what I can do to speed the insurance company up, or is that just nonsensical thinking? Oh, one more question. Does anyone have BCBS of TX and how long did it actually take to get the predetermination back? (I know it's individual, but just curious)

Thanks!

OMG, not only are our stats identical but I can so identify with this presurgery frustration. Good for you for tracking it all down, doing their jobs for them. I don't think keeping in touch would hinder progress in any way. There's the old adage about catching more flies with honey -- when I'm on the phone with insurance I try to make them laugh. Just know that you are very close and it's all happening -- you are on your way. But I so recall those days of just wanting to get the show on the road. That excitement and determination carried me through and it will you, too. In fact I still feel that all these months later. Use these extra couple of weeks to up your exercise and be in the best shape possible. It will help to walk off the stress and then give you something to step into right after surgery. Also on pre-op I knew that for the first time the weight I was losing was weight I'd never see again. There's that. You are going to do great! @@Band Aid mom

I have BCBS of TX as well. They told me it was typically 4 weeks to get insurance approval and that was pretty much spot on. But I was able to do all the other pre-op stuff they required, nutrition, psych, and pre-op appt with the surgeon, as well as get my blood work turned in. I did call every week but once i got approved, my surgery was scheduled a week later.

I agree with Bandista, use this time to really get your head in the game. Because my process was so fast I felt almost behind when I actually had the surgery. I am sorry that this is frustrating, though! We have enough on our minds already, don't we? My frustrations have been with my after care center. They, too, have upgraded/switched their system and the 3 fills I have had, there has been some small issue every single time.

Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
