I am trying my first tuna puree salad :) tuna light mayo relush. Then tmmrw puree chilli im sooo excited!

I was sleeved on 1/15 and went home 1/16. I could not tolerate the pain meds at all, so my doctor put me on extra strength Tylenol and Advil that has helped a lot. The worse part has been the Gas pain horrible, horrible it had me in tears. I bought chewable gasx the strips did nothing for me. Today is my first day of purée foods, had cream of wheat for breakfast 1tsp, and I am now having some creamy Greek yogurt it taste so good. I am also to have 1 protein shake a day. I am taking 2oz in between meals. I am also having a lot of trouble getting in my water. I still have a lot of gas and feel very full. I am happy to say that I have had no issues with feeling nauseated, not taking the pain meds has helped out. I am praying for the rest of this gas to go away so I can feel better.

I noticed so many doctors have so many different post op diets. It is so weird. I can only have clear liquids for 10 days then just liquids for 10 days and then I can have pureed foods. I noticed people who have been eating pureed foods not even a week out. I wonder why there are just such dramatic differences in the diets or is it based on individuals with different weight goals? I just don't want to be that person who is eating pizza within two months.

I was wondering the same thing. Even the preop diet some doctors allowed you to have some calories, I was on all liquid for 12 days. But I only had to do two days of liquid after surgery. Now I can have cream of wheat, yogurt, and creamy soup and protein shake. Maybe it does depend on the individual person.

I had 1 wk preop liquid diet, day 1&2 liquids day 3 start cream soups, cottage cheese, jello etc, after wk start certain purees or mushies I waited a few days until I felt at ease to try

Bmi 40 no other issues

BmI of 40.6 no pro op diet . 2 week full liquid protein ( protein shakes, cottage cheese , yogurt & sugar free pudding .. It's boring!!!! Then 2 weeks puree food .. Very differ t diets ! I work in the survey department for bariatric survey so I find it interesting but weird the differences

I was sleeved on 1/9 with Dr. Ortiz. I'm having trouble getting 64 oz of fluids in. I'm just so full so fast and don't feel any hunger. Room temp liquids go down best. Still on full liquids so I'm drinking cream soups and protein shakes. Need to find something that tastes good and has a lot of bang for the buck so I can get all my protein in. I'm down 9 lbs since surgery and a total of 42lbs from my highest weight last March. Still have soreness at my largest incision, but otherwise I feel good. Love reading how everyone else is doing and new ideas on how to manage each stage.

I am also on pureed food and eat about every fruit and veggie possible. I have a nutribullet so I put high protein items such as spinach and such in there and grind the heck out of it. My doc also told me that I can have things like mashed potatoes and to start introducing soft foods like fish and chicken.

Luvmyseab .. have you introduced an apple uet? I can have apple sauce but dont like the texture so I was thinking puree an apple?

Hi

New to to group and 6 days post op.

Completely off pain killers day 3 Post op. Stomach discomfort though, more from rolling gas than surgery wounds, but not the painful kind of gas just bloating.

Finding myself very drained especially when waking up in the morning, I really have to push myself hard to shower, get dressed and moving.

Clear liquid diet and protein shakes are tough to get in as well, but each day Im finding it gets better. 1st post follow up visit with Dr and Nutr tomorrow. Hopefully phase 2 soft foods...Yummy maybe :)

Sleeping is a chore and i find myself more comfortable for the most part sleeping in a reclined position propped up on pillows.

I know all these things are to be expected at this stage though tough but are do-able with God's help. I will keep pushing and take one day at a time because I have been blessed with such an awesome privilege and oppurtunity to be healthier.

Hang in there son4life its rough! You can do it! I too had the same experience, I went to sonic bought a bag of ice to help my fluid my tummy wouldnt all my meds in thete even! Protein shakes the same dr gave ok fir now to push for protein in mushies. Popsicles and find a crystal light flavor it helped getting the water down but u mist stsy hydrated hope that helps!

I am 6 days post OP. Does anyone know when the swelling in the tummy area goes down? I put on a pair of work pants to see how they fit since I have lost 30lbs total (includes preop) and the leg and butt area was loose but I can't close the pants without squeezing the swollen area??! :(
