I'm a "BusyHoosierMom" trying to be a good wife, manage four kids, and travel all over the state for work.  I've struggled with my weight since my early 20s due to PCOS with insulin resistance and an addiction to carbs.  I've tried numerous diets, only to lose and regain the weight over and over.  Earlier this year I lost a good family friend due to a stroke.  He was overweight, diabetic, in renal failure, went on dialysis, and had one complication after another.  Seeing what he went through really hit home for me.  I was diagnosed with hypertension just a month prior to his stroke and knew I was headed in the same direction if I didn't change my ways.  I recently lost 30 lbs on a local supervised weight loss program with anticipation of having VSG.  At the last minute the insurance company denied coverage, so I began researching other options.  I am now scheduled for VSG with Dr. Ortiz at the OCC next month.  I'm a novice and hoping that the BariatricPal forums will be helpful through this adventure.  I would appreciate any tips for making this experience as smooth and successful as possible.
