Nausea & gas - how long!

Recommended Posts

I am post op day 5 and I am still having bouts of nausea and painful gas in my shoulder. I have read the gas is normal, but what about the nausea...how long did yours last? Thanks!

The shoulder pain is the worst its a good sign though its moving upward trying to leave the body, are you still on pain killers that could be the stomach nausea. They did just work on your tummy and upset it a lot and putting the band around it

Yes, give yourself more time. If you are nauseous, take more time between sips, maybe. Worked for me. I hope it helps for you!

I'm 22 days post op, and trust me, I totally feel your pain. My husband bought me some charo gas pills and they made a world of difference for me! Just force yourself to walk.

Ughhhh I'm 12 days post up w horribly uncomfortable shoulder pain. Sitting in the waiting room now waiting for my first post op visit. The post op pamphlet provided indicates that this pain was supposed to subside by day 7! And I'm starving!!!!

I am 5 days out too...the shoulder pain is awful. Everything I read said to sleep up-right...I found that to be much worse. If I am laying pretty flat I feel like the abdominal air is diffused a bit- I can still feel it but it isn't really built up at any one point and causing pain. A few minutes after I sit up I feel a sharp pain in my left shoulder- so sharp that my shoulder is actually sore to the touch. If I have to sit up like that I have found that raising that arm up above my head or putting pillows under my arm so that my arm is at the same height as my shoulder helps. Reclining a bit is the best relief for me.

I have also gently "burped" my shoulder- gently tapping on it trying to break up the gas...

Really my only real discomfort has been the gas pain in my shoulder. They also recommended Gas X dissolvable tabs for tummy gas and it works well.

I take my nausea meds 15 minutes before my pain meds to help with nausea and it has worked well- the only time I have gotten queasy was when I accidentally rolled onto my stomach in my sleep.< /p>

Hope you get to feeling better soon!

It took about 9 days after surgery for the actual gas pains to go away. I still feel somewhat bloated.

I'm 17 days post op, and my shoulder pain is so bad that I'm lucky to get an hour of sleep at a time. I've been drinking my Water and walking, but getting no relief. I take extra strength GasX, plus the doctor has me on a prescription. Also, I take strong med.s for my back pain. I guess it just wants to take its time. lol At least I haven't had any nausea.

I have the same problem in my shoulder as well. I even have a pain in the middle of my stomach above my incision. It feels like a tight pull, when I breathe or yawn. It feels like if there's something stuck. It comes and goes. Sometimes I clamp on to a pillow, so it wont hurt. Hope this ends soon. Did anyone have that feeling?. I'm post op 5 days since surgery

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
