My surgery is scheduled for Feb 18. I will start my pre-op, low carb/high Protein diet Feb 4. I am nervous, and excited!

Hi All

New to this site been stalking you all for awhile. I just got approval with a surgery date of Feb 16th according to the Health insurance. Waiting to hear from the Doctors office today. I would assume I will have to start the pre op soon. I have to admit I ate my last brownie this weekend. It felt so silly.

Sorry for not replying sooner! I'm in the middle of writing my dissertation which is super depressing. So you have surgery on the 28th mcclayne? That's very exciting! How are you coping on the pre-surgery diet? Personally I think fitness pal is a great app. I managed to lose about 35 pounds with it but then I stopped using it and put all the weight back on. I found that I would input food details in and see how many carbs etc and then change my mind about eating it. It really helps you keep track of how much you are eating too. The first time I used it I couldn't believe how much food I was eating! All those small things add up! How is everyone coping nerves wise?

Thank you for remembering!!!! I got so busy the last few days that I've read some posts but am behind replying.

I can't believe I'm down to single digit numbers in hours!

Great news still...I am feeling no reservations and am not allowing my mind to drift to any negative thoughts. I'm at peace, and feel ready for this. ????

Smye-

do you start a strict 2week post op on Friday or Saturday, or is your Dr. more lenient there, seems across the board.

Stick to it hard the first 4 days and then it all of a sudden becomes pretty easy to stick to.

Feb. 12th, awesome!

I'm today, I'll answer questions if you get them to help with post-op since I'll be a post-opper in less than 8 hours, if that a word lol.

Hi everyone,

thanks for all the well wishes/messages Wednesday am, it was so awesome to pick up my phone and see over a dozen sleevers reaching out. I am only just responding because although its been a great few days in some ways, I've also had a few not so great things.

First the positive. Surgery done, a success and I am so excited and pumped that I got it done!!! Through the pain the minor complications etc, I am smiling big loving every minute of it.

As for complication, I ended up having a hiatal hernia that they fixed of course, but it has caused severe spasms beneath my sternum area/esophagus that then radiates into other areas. That increased my meds and has made taking in fluids a little more difficult, but it will pass soon and who cares, I finally have my sleeve!!! :)

I will be going home in about 5 hours and am excited about it.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
