A New Day

  • Popular Post

I woke up this morning and realized: This will be the last holiday season I will allow myself to be single and invisible. By this time next year I will have blossomed into my true beautiful and healthy self instead of hiding behind all of this weight and shame. I am so excited for the adventure ahead. I pray it goes well. I know it will be a tough path, but that the rewards will be so worth it.

Do you remember the day you knew your life was going to change for the better?

Overwhelmingly frustrated...was at the surgery center this morning ready to be called back when they told me surgery was cancelled because the surgeon was sick. All the prep- mentally and physically- just to be sent home. Waiting for a reschedule date. Sad. :(

Oh my gosh.. That must have been HORRIBLE! I am so sorry to hear that. What happens now?

They are going to squeeze me tomorrow....so thankful I only had to wait not her 48 hours! I was religious on the pre-op diet and honestly didn't know how much longer I could take it! Theses of you who have had it done, you know what it feels like in the waiting room...then to have the, tell you to go home and continue prep. I was devastated! Trying to keep everything in perspective and keep a positive state of mind! Thanks for all your support! I love reading everyone's trials, tribulations, and success stories!

Glad they are squeezing you in. Waiting rooms can be a pain in the rear. It's one of the reasons why I actually prefer those super early OR times. Thing are less likely to get bumped or delayed.

Hang in there for one more day, you're almost there!

@@Mariah13 - you have been so brave through this big bump in the plan! I'm so glad they can fit you in so soon! Hang in there.. It'll be here before you know it! Let us know how you're doing once you're feeling up to it.

Can't wait to hear how you're doing, Mariah!

Had my first post op appointment yesterday. My start weight seven months ago was 320. My weight the day of surgery was 292. My weight at the dr office yesterday was 277. Felt really good. Dr. Said my fatigue is probably caused by a little bit of dehydration. He suggestion I do my fluids plus one liter of pedialite. Other than that he had no concerns and things seem to be progressing well. (: Hope everyone else is doing well!!!!

Hi All, thank you for checking on me! The surgery and recovery has been surprisingly good! No gas really, no nausea, just a dull throbbing pain in my stomach (especially area where stomach was pulled through), Getting up and sitting down is rough but manageable. I really really hope I am going through the worst of it now and that it doesn't hit me in a couple days or week! One day at a time!

Thanks again to all who have checked on me.... I love our circle of supporters!

Hello ladies, I am on Day 2 post op (surgery was Wed morning) and I now am in horrible pain! Standing up and sitting down my body just screams...is this normal? Going to the bathroom makes me cry to get on and off toilet. I'm assuming after a major surgery it is but want some reassurance. Thanks!

Sounds like the anesthesia and pain meds from the hospital have worn off. Some soreness is to be expected. If you feel you need something to take the edge off call your doctor and have them prescribe something. You need to move at least once an hour to keep your muscles strong and help get rid of any residual gas. It's okay to need a little something for pain.

Hello Mariah

I was in pain after the procedure. The key for me was to stay ahead of the pain ie take the pain medications continuously for the first few days then taper off gradually. That really helped me keep the pain under control. Besides the pain i had really bad fatigue and nausea. Like taking a shower just wore me out. Things will get better hang in there!!!!!!!!

Ok having a little problem maybe someone can have an answer. Had some eggs and beans for dinner tonight. Tolerated ok while I was eating. However now I'm feeling sick like i want to vomit and am getting thick saliva. This happen to anyone????

I've heard eggs can be really hard on some ppl and they have reactions like that, maybe wait a little longer before you try them again

Foaming, frothing, the slimes. You ate a little faster than your tummy could handle. It can't contain the saliva and is pushing it back up. I've heard of it and been rel careful to avoid it. It sounds unpleasant. Maybe some tums will help?
