I confirmed with the nutritionist this week that my pre-op diet is to eat 1300 kcal/day, made up of 110g Protein minimum, 100g or less carbs, and 55g or less fats. They have a published meal plan of XYZ for day one, day two, etc., but I prefer to make my own meal plans and all I have to do is stick to the constraints above.

I am grateful that I get to eat tasty food up until the end, but in some ways I am almost wishing for the heavy restrictions of the liquid diet to give myself a reality check. It still barely seems real, and it's hard to take it as seriously as I know I should and get my head into the right place.

@@anaxila ok that good you don't really have a restriction and my surgeon is Dr Enrique Eli at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I went with this surgeon because I have seen a few people who had their bariatric surgery done by him and he is also the head of bariatric surgery at this hospital. But then again there are different restrictions for different people and my liver was a lot larger as to why my pre op was liquids all day with a Protein for dinner as in chicken fish or other protein rich food? ???I'm gonna be a full year post op as of 1/28 /2015 . So good luck on your new journey????

Hi everyone. I started my liquid diet yesterday. the drink is called Optifast 900z I can only have that four times a day for three weeks. The hard part is that I still have to cook for my four year old son. Mind of matter right? One day down.....20 more days to go. Surgery is on January 9th.

I found that I really just wanted to CHEW. And eat something that wasn't full of artificial sweeteners. My "go to" was about a cup of raw veggies (like cucumbers, bell pepper, celery) with Walden Farms calorie-free ranch dressing. Really satisfied the urge to chew. Also, I loved those flavored "soup starter" broths. Much better than the standard Petri dish tasting ones.

Tristanpole. I start Optifast tomorrow for 2 weeks and I'm terrified. I think I've everything under the sun leading up to tomorrow. I'm nervous I won't be able to do it. I keep telling myself if others have done it I can. Surgury on January 16

I stayed as busy as possible with household projects. Staying busy was my saving grace. You can do it, I even cheated a little the first week with veggies, and broiled chicken, but was steadfast the last week. I promise it gets easier.

My surgeon does not require liquid diet either... Protein Shakes during day and fish or chicken for dinner up until 2 days before surgery. I was actually shocked when he told me this and when I mentioned what I've read on here about the liquid diet he said that technically there is no need. As long as you follow a clear liquid only for the 2 days prior your stomach will be empty of solids by surgery.

My pre-op diet is liquid only for 14 days. HA. I had nothing but headaches the first 3 days. The second day after crying, I allowed myself campbell Soup with a few noodles. That satisfied the edge.

Then after reading posts on here, I have allowed myself chicken noodle soup (homemade with carrots and very little noodles, tiny pieces of chicken), only had 1 cup of soup. Today I allowed myself 1 chicken tender for lunch.< /p>

I know I need to buckle down and do liquid only as the surgery gets closer, but so far when I have cheated, it hasn't been carbs nor fatty things. I am cheating with a piece of chewable Protein.< /p>

Oh yeah and I suck on an almond once in a while.

My surgery is on the 12th I've been in the pre op diet since last tuesday. I have 1 lean meal a day. I have not cheated but have been tempted. Nevertheless, I am feeling stressed and moody!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
