how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?

Recommended Posts

Yeah I got the impression the actual surgery typically only takes around an hour to an hour and a half and then the rest is all pre-surgery and recovery stuff. You're not sent to your room for several hours.

From being wheeled to the operating room, through surgery, through recovery to getting in my own room was a little more than four hours. Pre-op not included. I also had a hiatal hernia repair so that added time to the surgery.

How long did your surgery take? My mother asked the PA and she said about 3 hours. I'm guessing that's worst case scenario, cause I keep reading different amounts of time.

I had my surgery on 11/21/14. The surgeon told my sister it only took him 40 minutes. He stated I prepped very well. I only have four incisions instead of five.

I arrived at 7am. Back to OR at 8am. Out of surgery at 10:45am (band to sleeve conversion), and discharged at 2:45pm.

You were discharged same day? Never heard of that. Usually you are in for one night.....wow

Awesome, glad it went well! Don't think we are the norm though.

I also had an easy time, was up walking in the recovery room... I think I shocked the nurses, said they haven't had anyone wanting to walk that soon. I have had gall bladder surgery and 3 c-sects... When I was 25 years younger. This was far easier. God is good. My doctor has a 3 day stay, but let me go early.

My surgery was a little over an hour. I am so thankful!

I was up and walking in recovery as well. They laughed at me cause I had to pee so they wheeled me to the bathroom door and I practically ran to the toilet. I wanted to go home after one day but my doc kept me for 2. I don't think we're necessarily the norm but I think those who have an easy time of it don't post as much.

Along with the sleeve, I had my gallbladder removed and a hernia repair. My husband said the dr came out to talk to him 2 hours after they took me back.

My surgery was 35-40 minutes. Husband said he just used the restroom, sat down, fired up his computer, and surgery was done.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
