Ok, I am not a bike enthusiast as everyone here is. I am a total newbie with bikes.

I have a Honda bike I purchased from Toys R Us. Is that lame? I like to bike around the neighborhood (about 4 miles) and that is a workout for me.

What would you all suggest for someone who is pretty green with bikes, but wants to get more involved?

Thanks for any responses.

We were all there once.

I would say keep doing what you are doing. If it works for you now then that is fine. If you decided you want to start getting serious into biking go to your local bike store and talk with them about it. My first full year of riding was done on a mountain bike from Walmart.< /p>

When does the bike butt disappear? I have the gel seat but it still feels like there is a foot up my a$$. Do I just keep riding on it or let it rest a day or two?

Just to bring back up old crap.....I am back there again. Got in my first significant ride yesterday. Well almost 15 miles. I guess it is not that significant, but there was a 20-30mph cross wind that kicked. my. ass.

So yeah, my butt hurts.

Ok this might make you laugh

So im in California on buisness and just DIEING to cycle.

So no one will rent me a bike. its sunny 70f

This is REALLY wrong.

I bought a crappy Walmart bike. Road the CRAP out of it. about 40 miles. Then cleaned it up with clorox wipes and took it back for credit.

Am i going to bike hell?

I kept all the packing and made it look perfect.

BTW: it was a creaky piece of ####

Lol!! I LOVE IT!!!!

s:smile: Finally back on the bike this week. Weeks on the stationary bike got to be to much. I ventured outdoors in about 2 degree celsius weather this week for my first first ride of the year. Despite the cold I have been out every day this week. Today was a balmy 9 degrees celsius. Not doing huge distance yet as my favourite bike paths are still covered with snow but I'm still averaging about 15k a day. It hurts so good to be out on the bike again. Can't wait for the warmer weather though. Safe riding everyone.:smile2:

Emep.

I cant wait to get on the bike too... Perhaps this weekend I'll go for it as I am just 1 week post op. Today at the Dr's visit I was cleared to start exercising with caution I take it easy.

I got the kid's bikes down, am gonna tune them up in preparations for family rides.

Also, I hope that this summer I visit your Montreal, I really love it there and look forward to visit and bring along my bike.

Ben congratulations on your decision to be banded and your interest in cycling. They go together very well and both will prove to be key factors in your weight loss journey.

If you are going to Montreal, you should consider a trip to Ottawa as well. It is one of the most bicycle friendly cities on the the continent with dedicated bike paths throughout the city. The paths are very kid friendly as many run along the river and canal and through parks.

Happy riding!

I did 25 K yesterday with the the temp hovering just above freezing. Felt good to get in that kind of distance despite the conditions. Today we are in the middle of an April snow storm. Snow and ice on the roads and much to dangerous to cylce.

I really have the bike fever this year but Mother Nature is throwing everyting she can at me to crush my spirit. She will not succeed! Back to the stationary bike for now. Tomorrow is a new day.(I will not break out in song) I need to get my 100k in the week and I must stay positive. I really envy all of you who are experiencing warmer weather.

Happy and safe cycling!

I was able to ride my bike on Monday! Yeah! It is fast, but man did I have fun. Still getting all the shifting down. I injured my back and have been out of commission for the past 2 weeks. I walked for 1 mile and then I decided to try a ride - I was just going to go around the block, but my back felt good and I did 2 miles and went down and back up the dreaded "hill"! It was great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
