Exhusband!

Recommended Posts

Ok. I just want to whine a little. All of my go to friends must be busy...not answering texts or calls tonight and I'm stuck at home on a Friday night with my son and his friend who is spending the night. So...you guys get to hear me whine :) ....and your ears are greatly appreciated!

So...my ex-husband. We've been divorced for about 6 yrs now. My weight was always a problem for him, and I was heavy when we met. 6 yrs later he has been through 5 different women...A serial relationship kind of man I guess. I have only dated 1 man for a very short period of time. I dated occasionally but haven't had a very serious relationship since the divorce.

Anyway.....when I had the surgery I was so hoping that he would see me and be really flirty with me. You see....in these past 6 yrs he was constantly flirting with me and constantly telling me I looked great....even though I was 256 lbs and knew I was looking pretty horrible! Now, 55lbs down.....not a peep out of him! Gheez! And we are friends now....we get along great for the sake of our son.

Don't get me wrong.....there is no way come hell or high Water that I would ever get back with him....as Taylor Swift says.....we are never ever ever getting back together. I just want a stinking compliment. I just want him to worry about my dating life. You know?

So that's it. One of the perks of this surgery was to make my ex jealous! Just one little perk. Maybe when I drop another 55?

I so can relate my weight has always been an issue after I had my daughter it was so frustrating. Thats all he would talk to me about is why am I so fat. He is now remarried to a skinny girl and Im just waiting for the day to show him my new healthy look.

I really don't mind his dating at all. It provides me with lots of entertainment, actually. He just always bugged me to work things out and flirted heavily during all these other women he's been seeing. Then I have the surgery and I look different, and I am more out going and busy these days. And not a peep. I was counting on a peep. lol

I don't think I'm waiting to date. I am not a very out going person. I work from home and spend a lot of my spare time with my son and all of his activities....hes 12. Its hard to meet people and I am so out of practice now the thought terrifies me! But...I am more ready for dating now than I have been in years.

@@Bobby46 Oh! No, you don't want a "peep" especially if he's being a flirt while with other women! Sounds like trouble! I bet you can find a nice man (if that's what you want)!

I totally get it, he'll say it eventually. I live for compliments right now, and I kind of enjoy rubbing it in my ex-wife's face, how hot I look now, only 4.5 months out from surgery, and we are really good friends, but there will always be that little part that says, look what you lost.

Oh girl trust me he's noticed the new you. He's just working on a new approach. He knows how to flirt with the overweight girl especially since you've been overweight the entire time he's known you. But the thinner sexier girl who's eventually going to find a man hotter than her ex-husband lol. Well that girl needs a different approach. Have fun driving him crazy!!!

Well....I got a wink and a smile the other day when he picked up our son. And, he stared for a bit. I rolled my eyes at him. lol. Felt good!....especially the eye rolling part!

I think its a control thing? I kind of like the control of saying "dream on bud, you had your chance!" So looking forward to feeling completely strong and confident!

Have you ever thought the new you might be intimidating him? Showing that you are strong enough to go through all you have to get to this point, plus not waiting for his permission to do it all may just have taken the wind out of his sails! You have shown you have taken control over your life, and he may not be comfortable with that. Besides, do you really care what he thinks? I can guarantee that someone who does have a valuable opinion is looking, it just may not be obvious.

He's definitely noticing! My boyfriend of 2 years broke up with me 4 months ago because he said i gained too much weight and he was no longer attracted to me. I was sad at first but now I've healed and my surgery is 2 days away. He tries to call me at least once a month but I ignore or text him please don't call unless its an absolute emergency.

I am a bridesmaid in my besties wedding in July and he still has my bridesmaid dress at his apartment. Can't wait to call him out the blue 50 lbs down and ask oh can I meet you at a coffee shop to pick up my dress :)!

Keep going strong with your weight loss journey!!! It sounds like the more weight you loose the quieter he's going to get. Its unfortunate hes not happy for you at this time.. But hey...Silence is bliss!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
