I don't watch my Calories very much, I watch my Protein and carbs levels. (that is what my doctor told me to watch) He wants me to get at least 30 grams Protein and no more than 30 of carbs. I usually start with 1 cup of Cereal (most generally Special K.) with just enough skim milk to cover it. Then maybe some lasagna without the noodles, or a rev. or tuna fish with maybe 1 tablespoon of mircle whip with olive oil, then for dinner I might have some haddock (broiled) with cottage cheese. Most generally I eat my protein first and that will fill me up. I am 6 weeks out. I am still on soft foods. I try to stay away from all pastas. They make me feel bloated and way to fill. I do use My Fitness Pal to keep up with my levels. It does tell me calories also.

At 6 weeks, I was eating 1/2 cup of food per meal, 6 - 7 times a day. My food was pretty boring - I ate almost the same thing every meal - my concoction of refried Beans, turkey hamburger and salsa.

There would be some variation in my diet. At my office, there would always be some leftovers from meetings and I would eat a few pieces of fresh fruit or 1/4 - 1/2 of a sandwich for lunch. But Frankensleeve really didn't like it, so I primarily stuck with the refried Beans.< /div>
I roughly estimated that I was eating 800 - 1000 calries a day.
Being stuck at a certain weight for a week or two was normal for me. Eventually I learned that if I just stuck to my diet plan and kept up my walking, the weight would start dropping again.
I did learn real quick that eating fruit would slow my weight loss, so I stuck to low glycemic vegetables and lean Protein as much as possible.

Hi, Typical meals.

Breakfast: coffee with a tablespoon of creamer and 1 egg with a handful of spinach and a laughing cow cheese wedge. Or, oatmeal with a tablespoon of pumpkin seeds or trailmix. Or 1 egg with 1 turkey sausage link.

Snack: cheese stick. Or, greek yogurt or cottage cheese

Lunch: Imitation crab, tuna or canned chicken with a little low fat mayo, chopped onioin, a few grapes quartered and a tablespoon of chopped pecans....eaten with about 5 special K cracker chips. Or, refried Beans with shredded cheese and taco seasoning. Or veggie burger patty with a laughing cow cheese wedge. Or chili with Beans. Serving size about 1/3 - 1/2 cup.

Snack: a small banana or apple....sometimes with a little Peanut Butter

Dinner: Grilled chicken, fish or beef and veggies.....very little veggies, usually because I get the Protein in first. Or, Italian meatballs in marinara sauce, meatloaf, taco meat with a sprinkle of cheese and avocado, or chili.

Snack: Protein shake if I need to up my Protein. Or, a low sugar, low calorie fudgecicle.

I end up with 750-900 calories and 55 - 75 grams of protein.

Thanks Bobby46:) that's exactly what I was looking for. I don't think I'm eating enough.

For Breakfast : premier Protein shake

For lunch: a few bites of chicken

Dinner: Beans with a few bites of chicken. I get full with just 3 bites. I also don't drink enough Water, I'm lucky if I can drink 30 oz a day. I don't snack because I don't get hungry.

I switch up. I'm at 7 weeks. My doctor said I should be getting about 800 calories a day. I also use Myfitnesspal. I break my diary up into Breakfast, lunch dinner and 2 Snacks. In between I drink Water.

Breakfast varies. If it's a gym day I do CVS whey Protein, unsweetened almond milk and a tbsp of almond butter. It's a great boost at 31 gram of Protein.

Non gym day I do a soft scrambled egg, with a bit of cheese. I may add a tsp of salsa or chopped spinach. Other options oatmeal using the premade Orgain shake with a few dried cranberries. If I want I may have a coffee using the Orgain premade or herbal tea using prosource liquid

Lunch: I may do a veggie burger with some salsa. If I have that I eat half at lunch and then the other half for a mid afternoon snack

Snack may also be half a navel orange

dinner is usually a Soup

I try to finish eating by 8pm and then I focus on getting in the rest of my Water. if I want a snack I may have hot chocolate using the Orgain premade or herbal tea using prosource liquid

I eat a lot of salad...usually with tuna, chicken or some kind of Protein added. For Snacks I eat nuts or string cheese or laughing cow. dinner it ranges. Ground beef or turkey stuff in zucchini boats...meatballs...fish...chicken pretty much anything in the meat family. I use sauces to make it wet and easier to digest. No shakes anymore I have them for a fast breakfast etc but I try to get my protein from food. I'm the same also a good 4 bites and I'm full. I keep track of my protein and calories with my fitness pal. I have it set to 1000 and usually don't hit it. Hope that helps!

Soontobeskinny,

You are a few weeks behind me, I was sleeved on 8/11/14. I usually only eat about 1/3 to 1/2 cup at a meal. It will take a few more weeks for you to eat that much at a sitting. It took the full 12 weeks for me to get to that point. I would suggest that you keep eating what you can and supplement with Protein Shakes if you have too....and don't forget your Vitamins. Give yourself some time, you will get there and you will figure out a food plan that works for you :) You're doing great! No worries!

Breakfast Premier Protein shake or Atkins mocha Protein Shake ( my favorite!)

Late morning snack cheese and thin pickle spear wrapped in turkey dipped in mustard

lunch 3/4 of a turkey sausage ( johnsonville turkey cheddarwurst are good) I top sausage with homemade pimento cheese. Or 2 meatballs topped with cheddar or tuna or chicken salad or 1/2 a bean and cheese cup from Taco Bell

Snack jack links turkey Jerky insividual packs ( love these) or a couple slices if cheese or cottage cheese

dinner shrimp and squash cooked in nuwave oven or extra lean ground beef cooked in nuwave oven or chicken marinated in a 30 minute marinade with carrots cooked in nuwave. The nuwave oven really helps me cook a super quick healthy meal. I would struggle without it. I'm 7 weeks post op and want to start juicing soon. I eat 0 sugar. I don't like sugar anymore at all. I do crave savory though. If I am craving something naughty like Cheetos I eat a few and I'm satisfied.

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
