How long can you wear your pants?

Recommended Posts

I had a pair of jeans that were super cute. I had never worn them before. I tried them on last week and they fit! Well I was finally able to wear jeans today to work (casual Friday). I did not even get through the day before they were falling off. Could not even wear them to dinner so I pulled out a pair I had tried last week that didn't fit....they fit. Success, but I really didn't think I would change sizes that quickly!

that's awesome! Ok, so sometimes I went down a size after just a couple of weeks! Once you get down to about a size 14 you will drop a size about every 10 lbs... so... if you have a really good week you could potentially drop a size on even just one week...CRAZY!

Not that low yet. Started in 24's. Can now fit in 18's.

Seela's right. I had to lose about 40 lbs. just to go from a 4X top to a 3X top and 28 slacks to 24 (and they were pretty tight). But once I got to about a size 14, I went down to a 6 pretty rapidly.

I saw a friend last night I haven't seen in three weeks. I was wearing a "new" pair of jeans I got from Goodwill last week. It was my first time wearing them. She tugged on the loose back thigh and said, "Time to invest in some smaller jeans, kiddo!" I said these ARE my smaller jeans !! Which is why I only invested five bucks in them. Lol. Good problem to have. I bought another smaller pair for another five bucks today. Also got 11 more blouses and spent a grand total of 52 bucks. I'm good for another couple of months, I think.

Just left goodwill with 4 pairs of work pants for 15. My husband asked if they all fit. I said one does, the others will next week..lol!

Isn't it grand! Moral of the story is where what you love while you can because it's a small window of opportunity. And a great problem to have.

If you get a window at all....I have a few things that I have already missed the window. But it is definitely ok!

I did that accidentally. I thought a pair of dress pants were still too tight but by the time I tried them on they looked like clown pants. I was pretty mad at myself about that. So now I check my "future" clothes every week.

that happened to me too, I had a lot of nice dress clothes that I had grown out of. I kept thinking while I was losing that eventually they would fit, when I finally tried them on I was so excited, then they turned out to be too big. Window missed. But like they say, when a window closes, a door opens. Yay! Gotta love them doors.

Not that I've done it yet, and not that it might be the most popular post but....

This thread brought me back to my art major days & fashion design classes... and home ec- back in my younger years. It also brought me back to basic family training. In my family, the boys learned to sew & cook and the girls learned how to do years work & minir repairs- as well as all that traditional male/female trajectories. My family cross-trained. We also learned to buy GOOD quality and make it last forever. lol

So I've hung onto a few meaningful 'fat' pieces. I have the intention to either alter them to fit me or to recreate them into something else altogether; a skirt, new tank, scarf, even a pillow or throw. Those things that have a place in my heart like the gown I wore at my daughter's wedding, my first date with.... outfit , my later-in-life graduation from college dress, that kick-ass power suit that I kicked ass at work & got kudos with, etc.

I think it's important to surround ourselves with what's meaningful, even if it's not recognizable as what it once was.

It makes sense though, because I'm not recognizable as what I once was either, but I'm still the same me and what's meaningful still matters, imho.

That's sweet!

I have many meaningful things I have saved throughout my life, but clothes have never been a part of that. I think that's cool that you have those plans.

I did save ONE thing I have been hanging on to. It was from a middle of the road weight for me, size 12 or 14 dress I changed into after my wedding dress on my wedding day (I don't even have my wedding gown, long story). It's a linen tailored classic style 3/4 length white dress with a ton of buttons and navy trim. My 20th anniversary is next year. I would LOVE to go back to our honeymoon location and have a bow renewal ceremony wearing that dress altered to a size 4/6 now!

Course with vanity sizing it's not as many sizes down as it seems, it's maybe 3 sizes too big now, but still!!!

I am tired of hiking up my pants every time I get up from my desk at work. It is so frustrating but wonderful at the same time.

I HATE belts but have had to wear one just so I don't give my co-workers a shock while walking down the hall way! : ) Good for you. Congrats on your weight loss.

How wonderful for you. So glad they didn't fall off of you????

I had a HUGE non scale victory. I was at Dress Barn and I naturally went into the plus size. The sales lady came over and told me I was on the wrong side of the store, that the misses sizes were on the other side. I almost started to cry. I was flabbergasted to say the least. I guess we don't always see the changes that everyone else sees

My pants last longer than they should.

For example, taking my HUGE (125lb), super strong, 18 month-old puppy to vet for post-op visit, she decided she wanted to walk around outside rather than wait in waiting room- and so it was.

Rainy, cold with a dusting of snow, she pulled me around where she wanted to go-

and as she did, my jeans fell lower... and lower.. and lower...

so I had the leash in my right hand, and a belly-sling huffed up over my left shoulder with my overstuffed purse, and tried to direct her in the direction "I" wanted her to go in (cooped up for two weeks, she just wanted to run all over the place!

Thankfully, I had a mid-thigh sweater on, but my pants were drooping like those "pants on the ground" pants some of young guys like to wear (no clue why!)

so there I am, trying to huff my pants up - while being yarned around- overladed with massive pup-on-leash, too-big purse & belly sling- in the cold rain. I'm sure I looked like a hot mess.

when we got back to over by my car- I tried to 'discretely' hike them up to an acceptable level - got one side up & the other side drooped. Back & forth... Then, I noticed the receptionist looking at me out the window with an odd, "What the FK is she doing out there???" look on her face.

so when I finally got back inside, I chimed for the whole world to hear, "OMG! My pants were falling down the whole time! I kept trying to pull them up, but they kept falling down!" which made everyone chuckle & diverted embarrassment (for the most part) with comedy.

A NSV- of sorts.

take-home: I need a belt!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
