Tomorrow I start my preop diet and I'm literally freaking out. I like food. And when I'm hungry I get aggressive. I don't know how I'm going to manage. My NUT told me that I can eat any vegetables in addition to the shakes. But the whole idea of only that is freaking me out. I just hope I don't cheat. Any tricks or suggestions that worked for anyone?

One of the biggest motivators for me was the weight i lost leading up to and during the preop diet. It's also good to have alternate outlets to channel your aggression. Maybe a sparring partner, lol. :)

Mind over matter.... Get your thoughts in order. You are worth the changes coming! Its not what you are losing... its what you will be gaining! I am not talking pounds... Im talking healthier lifestye! You are here like I am ... because you are overweight and not healthy. We deserve better. You deserve better. You have to get your thoughts right. No one is doing this TO YOU... You are doing this FOR YOU... dig deep, find the commitment and determination to get through it. YOU Will be happier and healthier IF you really want this.

You are not alone. We all struggle or we wouldn't be here talking to strangers. My surgery is tomorrow... I have to remind myself every day why I am doing this... I want a better future for myself.

Have faith in yourself. You can do this. :)

Blessings.

I get hangry too - at this point, I've resigned myself to warning all the innocent bystanders in advance :). Use this board to get your aggression out, there's always someone here who is willing to listen!

Well if your diet includes any vegetable I would steam a bunch of different stuff. Grab carrots and celery and cucumbers and cut it up. Every time you feel like you're starving drink a shake and then go munch on some veggies. Some people's preop is just liquid so think how lucky you are to have the vegetables LOL

I get so hangry it's not even funny, I feel your pain. My husband is more worried about the pre-op diet than the actual surgery, lol. He knows I will be mean even though I try not to be ???? I'm allowed to have some veggies one meal a day but the rest has to be all liquid. Sigh! We can do it!!!! ????

Sunflower seeds saved me during pre-op diet. You get the hand to mouth motion, it takes awhile to unshell them and eat them, and they have protein!

I just went through the same feelings last weekend so I feel you. I am in an IOP (intensive outpatient program) which is therapy for eating disorders, and they are teaching us SO much! Whether or not people have a disorder, this surgery is a very drastic move and we need to know how to handle it when we want to eat and our stomachs can't handle much. I strongly believe in therapy, the books mentioned, support groups, this site, etc. Best of luck to you! You can do it! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
