November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!

Hi.

I'm Deb from N. Carolina. I started this whole process back in August after a visit to my regular doctor. After way too many years of yo-yo dieting and never getting the job done, it's all caught up to me. Now I'm heavier than I've ever been, my BP is on the rise and so is my cholesterol. My arthritis is terrible in my knees and ankles. I retired a couple years ago and I hate it because I can't do any of the things my husband and I talked about doing at this time in our lives. It's time to move forward.....

My surgery is scheduled for Nov.11th. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I'm hoping that others that are getting ready to have their surgery in November might be interested in connecting to create a support group. Let's make this journey together and be there to support one another no matter where we live or what our ages may be.

I've been looking at many of the other discussions and some are great, but I have a hard time keeping up with all of them in different places. I'm wondering if a group like this would make it easier to keep tract of whatever we want to talk about.

What do you think????

I look forward to hearing from folks.

Deb

I'm approved just waiting on date! It will be in November though for sure! I only feel that I just can't prep enough!

So far I have lost 8 pounds on my liquid diet in 4 days. I still have 6 days to go. I'm at less than 500 cal a day. I'm sure you will be fine.

I've also lost 8 lbs! Tomorrow means 8 more days!

Lost 8kgs so far still waiting on a new op date. But I know it's on nov then I have 2 days liquid diet pre op

I'm scheduled for November 17th :) if love to be a part of your support group. I hope that this weight loss journey will help you to do all of the things you and your husband dreamed to do in life!

Great, we have surgery on the same day!

That's great bluedreams86! what do you have to do for your pre-op? I just got back from my class a few hours ago.

I tried the vanilla yesterday. It was ok but not great. Don't feel bad I can't tell the difference in the chocolates either. I've picked up chewable multi Vitamins and calcium/vit. D at costco. I've been told that after surgery a lot of docs want you on a probiotic too. I haven't looked for those in chewable yet. My nutritionist told me to start taking 5000mg of Biotin now to help cut down on hair loss after surgery. Anyone else doing this?

Ahhh I didnt know about the probiotic. I will look into that. How much are you taking?

I just starting taking biotin. I bought the 5000mg version, but these past few days I've been double dosing to 10,000mg. I alredy have SUPER thin hair as it is and I'm afraid I will lose all my hair after the surgery. I did see my dermatologist because I have a thinning patch because I lost too much weight quickly during the pre op diet and she told me that I could use Rogaine for men --- not women because its not strong enough. So I will start using Rogaine and even the shampoo now. I can already picture my hair failing.  :o

I'm a lil worried because I have under active thyroid which can cause thinning hair which mine is. So hoping I don't loose too much. I live in Perth Australia so any suggestions would be great for pre op and post op for eloping stop hair loss, thinning.

You don't happen to live in Kimball do you??

Hi I'm Jenn I have surgery in Fairfax Virginia November 4th. Would love to keep up with anyone on this thread. Get in touch. Good luck to all with their upcoming surgeries.

When I had the lap band surgery, got sick (in hospital for a week) and the removal of lap band, I lost about half my hair and my hair was thick. It is just now growing back and to think that I'm going to lose it again is killing me.

I have heard making sure you get in enough protein help with less hair loss.

My surgery date is November 11th, with Dr. Robert Richard, in Gainesville, Georgia. I am on my second day of the 2 week liquid diet and it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I would love to meet and chat with someone who has the same surgery date as me.

michellew1 - I am having the same surgery one day before you, Does that count? :-) I have the same goal weight too, so I'd love to follow your journey and compare notes as we go along. My surgeon doesn't require the 2 week liquid diet, just the day before surgery. I go next week for my pre-op appt and hope he doesn't change that!

I've been making my to-do list of things I need to buy. I already have my Protein drinks and Vitamins but will need to get popsicles, cottage cheese, milk, etc. I am getting nervous but also excited that after this long wait it is almost here. Sometimes I wonder if the whole ordeal with getting approved is just to build up that excitement so we don't think too much about how our insides are going to get all rearranged.

@@Dabliss111114 - When I saw your opening post, I took a double take thinking I had written that! I sure could have, almost word for word.
