  1. I DID IT!!!! I have reached my personal goal of 175#. I haven't been 175 in almost 20 years. My doctors goal weight for me is 155, I'm so excited!!! Can you tell? It has been a slow 2 months. my weight has been fluctuating up and down hovering between 178 and 180 and today I got on the scale and voila....175!! I got on and off the scale several times to make sure it wasn't a fluke. But it wasn't. Last week I got out the box of clothes that had been stashed away. You know those clothes that you loved and said, I'll fit back into these one day clothes. Well, a lot of them I do fit back into and most of them I do not. Not because I'm big, but because they are too big!! Oh Happy Day!! Spring is finally here in Southern Central PA and I can finally get outside and work on my flower beds and prep the vegetable gardens. Praying everyone is having a great start to Spring and looking forward to those summer months of not feeling uncomfortable in your own skin when wearing shorts and tank tops OR the dreaded bathing suit.

    tail bone pain

I thought it was because I rode a bike for 4 miles and blamed it on the seat. My butt has been killing me. Glad to hear it wasn't the bike and that it is just a "side effect" of losing weight. Hope it goes away soon though. The thought of getting on a bike again hurts me.
  3. WHY, why, why did I do that! It is Christmas time and when you have kids an parties to attend you bake cookies, and a lot of them. Molasses ginger ones, peanut butter Nutella ones, sugar cookie ones, chocolate chip ones. UUUGH, I sit home all day and heard them calling my name every time I went into the kitchen. AND I HAD ONE, BUT NOT JUST ONE! I don't know how many I ate each time I went in. When i pack my kids their lunch, I stead of putting one cookie in I put 3 or 4 and tell them to share with their friends because I need them out of my house NOW. I'm a self sabotager. every time I get close to passing 190 I do something to stop it. why am I afraid of being in the 180's?
  4. dabliss111114, I'm right there with you. Just got off the scale at my Dr. Office....6 more pounds.
  5. So, I still haven't gotten on my "I know your broken" scale. But I did check two measurements, I measured almost every inch of myself the day before my surgery. The measurements I took today were of my two highest amounts. My Gut...above my belly button and below. The results...4" lost in both measurements!! Woohoo. So, my scale is saying stupid, who knows what, but the measuring tape never lies. Regarding clothes, they all fit looser and I'm not going to go out and buy clothes as I lose. That is rediculous, especially in the winter months when you can now comfortably layer up and not feel like a stuffed sausage.
  6. Time4ChangeNY - glad to hear I'm not the only one. Keeping my fingers crossed that the scale moves for both of us next time we get on it.
  7. Why haven't I lost anymore weight? I did get on the scale art home today and out reads the same thing out did back on Nov.24 the day I went for my post op appt. Granted I've been sick with a serious head cold and not eating or really drinking as much as I should but shouldn't the scale be moving down? My energy it's finally coming back so I can start exercising. But why?
  8. Well, glad to say, I didn't get sick on the pills last night. Still feel aweful though. For those looking fort purée fod, I found a great website bariatriceating.com. There are a lot of great tips on this page also.
  9. Aaaah, I just took two sinus medicine pills, forgetting we can't take them anymore. Crap what do I do?
  10. @@NewJeffrey, I'm with you. I haven't weighed myself either. Only as Dr. Appts. My scale was constantly showing up or down, never consistent. I've been on the go since Thanksgiving and I know I haven't been getting enough fluids in. Now in sick with a major head cold and trying to get in the fluids.
  11. My NUT. when I was having lap band in Jan. said I could use Truvia so I have been using that ever since even when the band was removed in March. Now, I had RNY and she says not to use Truvia. REALLY? What am I to do with my big bucket of Truvia now or can I still use it in my cofree? One tsp. is all I use for my one cup of now decaf coffee a day.

To Truvia or not to Truvia

Because it is made with erythritol.

  14. Fingers and Toes crossed, good luck.
  15. The drain is a pain. Can't wait until Tuesday when it comes out. Do we really have to do two full weeks of liquids post op? I'm hoping the Dr. will say I can have pureed come Tuesday. This will make Thanksgiving so much easier. I just want a spoonful of sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes. Then I will be good. I made sugar free chocolate pudding today with a scoop of my chocolate protein powder. came out tasting just fine. dole makes a spicy black bean and corn cream soup that I added some unjury chicken broth flavored protein to, again really good.
  16. I'm doing great so far, haven't gotten on the scale since the morning of surgery and I don't plan on it until I go to the doctor on Tuesday. My stomach hurt a little last night but nothing to take a Tylenol for. Woke up the morning early because my drain site was soar. I don't see anyone mentioning a drain. Am I the only one that has one? I have this long tube with a suction ball hanging out of my side. Doesn't bother me much but am not going anywhere public until this is out of me...Again, Tuesday.
  17. Got home today. All is going well. No gas pains like when I had the lap band. What a huge difference in recovery. I'm not as soar either. Only take a percocet before bed. Had dry heaving directly after the surgery. Hope everyone else is doing as well as I am.
  18. My surgery is in two days and I just got my period. All that weight loss that I have had for two weeks on the liquid diet could be for naught. My doctor told me that if I did not lose 5 lbs before the surgery he wasn't going to do it. I have lost the 5 lbs plus a pound or two and now having my period I will have "gained" that 5 lbs back. Has anyone else run into this problem? I will be so upset if my surgery is canceled because of this.
  19. My day is tomorrow at 9:30.
  20. Whenever I get the hunger pains, I drink a glass of water or tea. That tends to subside them. Might want to give that a try. That is also another way of getting in you 64+oz. a day.
  21. I'm on day 8 of 14. Three protein shakes a day and two protein bars a day. Plus 64oz of fluids a day. Needless to say I pee every half hour. When making dinner for my family I do try a very small piece of meat. Today, I've made a large pit of meat sauce and meatballs. My stomach is screaming "give me one" but I'm doing ok so far. Yesterday was a grouchy day.

    REVISION to Bypass

Thank you AuriP. I'm praying all goes well. My doctor said that he is going to try and use the same "holes" but may have to make new ones because I have a lot of scar tissue under the main hole (where the port was.) After the second surgery that hole had to be left opened and close from the inside out. It was really gross, so if I can avoid that again, that would be great.

    REVISION to Bypass

I had gotten the band in Jan. 2014. I had to have it removed in March because the port was infected. I was told that the scar tissue on my stomach was bad and that I couldn't get another band. I can get the RNY but the incision is going to be just below where the scar tissue is. I'm just really scared.
  24. I haven't told anyone in my family or my husbands family. Less than a handful of friends know. I don't need nor what their opinions about my body and what I am choosing to do. My husband is supportive of my desicion and that is all that matters to me.

New Guy - Surgery Nov. 17

I start my preop diet on Monday also. I'm totally nervous this time and I know it is because I had the problem with the lap band and getting sick at the beginning of the year, I'm just afraid it is going to happen again. And I get even more scared because this surgery is not reversable like the lap band was.
