November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!

Hi.

I'm Deb from N. Carolina. I started this whole process back in August after a visit to my regular doctor. After way too many years of yo-yo dieting and never getting the job done, it's all caught up to me. Now I'm heavier than I've ever been, my BP is on the rise and so is my cholesterol. My arthritis is terrible in my knees and ankles. I retired a couple years ago and I hate it because I can't do any of the things my husband and I talked about doing at this time in our lives. It's time to move forward.....

My surgery is scheduled for Nov.11th. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I'm hoping that others that are getting ready to have their surgery in November might be interested in connecting to create a support group. Let's make this journey together and be there to support one another no matter where we live or what our ages may be.

I've been looking at many of the other discussions and some are great, but I have a hard time keeping up with all of them in different places. I'm wondering if a group like this would make it easier to keep tract of whatever we want to talk about.

What do you think????

I look forward to hearing from folks.

Deb

I'm going to use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury for my pre-op diet too. Actually, that's the only Protein powder that my doctor has on his approved list :( I tried several flavors and they are pretty good. I just cannot taste the difference between the chocolate Classic and the Chocolate Splendor. LOL.

Have you guys decided on which Vitamins to use post-surgery?

I tried the vanilla yesterday. It was ok but not great. Don't feel bad I can't tell the difference in the chocolates either. I've picked up chewable multi vitamins and calcium/vit. D at costco. I've been told that after surgery a lot of docs want you on a probiotic too. I haven't looked for those in chewable yet. My nutritionist told me to start taking 5000mg of Biotin now to help cut down on hair loss after surgery. Anyone else doing this?

I haven't thought of taking Biotin before. That sounds like a good idea. I have a few samples of chewable vitatmins and a liquid one. I was going to wait till after surgery to take them.

Hey Everyone!

I was approved today for gastric bypass surgery!! My surgery date is Nov. 21st. Pre-op appt. is Nov. 10th. Only a one week clear liquid diet. I'm nervous (about quitting smoking like right now, cutting out caffeine and eating healthier) Let's connect!!!! I'm excited. Phoenix Arizona here...I'll post before and during pictures soon. For now, I've just posted a before which is from last year so technically I'm smaller in this picture than I currently am.

Hi.

My surgery is tentative for mid November. I'm also having hiatal hernia and gallbladder done.

I am getting nervous... mostly about after. Will I get enough vitamins/protein? Will I be able to keep the Vitamins down? Will I lose my hair? Will I be able to not go back to smoking? and yes... will I die?

Someone said to me today "What if you don't get the surgery" and the answer is... there are more risks if I don't have it done! :)

Really want to connect with others who are going through the same thing. :)

Starting my liquid diet tomorrow. :( Are you allowed veggies and a small piece of lean meat for dinner or all liquids?

I am allowed up to 6 ready to drink protein shakes, water, sugar free jello, and sugar free Popsicles.

I meant to also say that is for one day, and it cannot exceed 900 calories. The first three days were tough! Caffeine headaches, tired and lethargic. But today, day 4, I was more alert and energetic.

I'm totally new to this page and not sure how it works. Hoping someone can help??

I would like to talk with others going through the same thing.

Thanks so much and I wish you all the best! :)

I just got the call Thursday that I have been approved by surgery, I'm scheduled for Nov. 17th. I'm excited and really scared. You see, in January, I had lap band surgery, got severely sick two weeks later and an infection at the port that spread to the band. I had to have the band removed end of March. After months of recovery and getting healthy again I qualified for a bypass. I'm just afraid of something going wrong again.

@@Dabliss111114, let's keep in touch. I have no support system right now and my surgery is Nov. 21.

HI all! I am scheduled for RNY on November 10th. Also large hiatal hernia repair. It's nice to know others will be in the same boat at the same time and we can cheer each other on. Feel free to add me as a friend. :-)

It took so long to get to this point and now that I am only 2 weeks away, it's a bit scary! For so long, I couldn't wait to do this, but it definitely is making me nervous. I am trying to focus on all the positives such as how much healthier I will be, how great it will be to be able to do things again that I haven't been able to because of my weight, how fun it will be to buy clothes that actually look good on me, and how wonderful it will be to be comfortable in my own skin again! I can't wait to no longer be the fattest person in the room and have people never really know the "real me" because it is buried under 150 excess pounds.

So, whatever the next few weeks brings, I am ready for. Bring it on!
