11/03 here! Can't wait to get sleeved. Going shopping for my pre-op diet this weekend.

Hey all! I am being sleeved in Puerta Vallarta, MX on 10/22 which is....now 6 days away! I'm so freakin' exicited! I began 14 day pre-op diet on the 8th. I feel like I'm line for an awesome roller coaster at an amusement park; almost my turn to get on the ride! Good wishes to all for a safe beginning to this amazing journey!

I got called this week to set up my pre-op testing! I will be done on Monday, then I discuss the results with my doctor on the 29th. Hopefully everything is good! November 6th is fast approaching.

Having surgery on Oct. 30th...nerves are starting to set in about drastically changing my body, but I am determined that this tool will be the answer for me. I am under the care of Dr. Michael Thomas, and will be having the surgery in New Orleans, LA. I am a cash pay, so I really didn't have many of the issues most of you with insurance did...waiting period, pre-surgery liquid diet, etc. My starting weight is 226 lbs, and I am hoping to be around 135 - 150 in one year. I bought all of the Vitamins and Protein for after the surgery, but am a bit concerned about being able to get them down. Some are chewable, some are small gel pills, but even so, I hate to vomit and I'm worried! It took me a long time to convince my husband that this will be the best thing I've ever done, but he is now on board and very supportive. Hope to talk to many of you as we go through this together!

Surgery on the 29th for me! I start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow, which I am loathing, but I guess it's a necessary evil. @@ArtDLG, the liquid diet is to shrink your liver so they can more easily move it out of the way during surgery. While not all doctors do 2 weeks, some liquid diet beforehand seems pretty much standard.

I am currently 245, hoping to get down to 170-175, My Doc, said that will not be a problem, because of my build as well...I'm a little short dude (5'5) but very stalky, and always hovered around 185, I used to lift weeknights when I was in the Army. He didn't emphasis to much on the diet, just to make sure that the liquids were part of my diet the last two weeks. I will do my best, but I was looking at a Breakfast, and lunch liquids and a decent meal for dinner, ow in carbs, salad, meats? What do you think?

How are you? How do you feel in your liquid diet? Im scared!

@@ArtDLG, I think the plan varies greatly from program to program. My mom had the Roux almost 5 years ago and she only had to do a 5 day liquid diet. Now for my sleeve it's 14 days. It's a different program. I think if that's what your doctor recommended, go with it. Since you're not as severely obese as others, he may not be as concerned about your belly fat or liver getting in the way. I've seen lots of people post that their plans include lean cuisines for one meal per day, so I'm thinking it must be a fairly common thing. I'm jealous for sure. lol

@@Packerfan61964, I saw your thread about the goal weight still being in the "overweight" range. As a result, I changed my goal. I feel like, since I've been heavy my whole life, I was selling myself short. I knew my original goal was still overweight, but I look at my family and my history and think "it's good enough." My mom had the RNY about 5 years ago and while I think she looks fabulous, she tells me she is still in the "overweight" category, which is shocking to me when I look at her. I'm hoping that being younger and never having had babies will help me lose even more than my mom did. I don't think she weighs the 180 pounds I had originally set my goal at, and she is an inch or so taller than I am. I'm nervous that I'm setting myself up to fail. Anyway, all that said, 160 pounds puts me with 9 pounds to spare within the "normal" range.

I'd rather eat a salad than have a lean cuisine....YUK!! Im doing 2 Protein shakes and a salad for 11 days then doing a cleanse/flush and then Clear liquids for the final 3 days before surgery. the 2 shakes and salad is cool.....I'm dreading the clear liquid diet tho!!

Man. I'd kill for a salad right now. lol

KMCarlson- me too! A salad sounds so awesome right now! Lol

I didn't have to do the pre op diet, but I'm thinking it would be in my best interest to get used to the liquids starting next week. I hope I can handle it!
