  1. Anyone else go through this? It has been horrible!!!! Up front, thanks for letting me whine and vent. I was just sleeved on 10/20, Monday. Came home Tuesday, I did have some pain and a ton of gas pains that made it hard to eat or drink anything. Slowly getting better on Wednesday, and then Bam! Thursday I wake up with the worst sore throat, inner ear, head thing ever! I call my surgeon, (1.5 hours away) and they say go to urgent care. That doc says I have some type of viral crud, nothing she could do. Not much coughing, but mostly my throat is so swollen and sore that it hurts to eat or drink anything. Now I have this lovely fever, but not a fever (99.4) where I'm sweating but freezing at the same time, so basically I'm up to my chin in blankets, and anytime I try to stick a limb out to cool off, it freezes. You should see my trying to write this right now. I have been so tired that I've barely been able to get out of bed to do the walking I'm supposed to, and have been sleeping off and on since then. I'm feeling very frustrated right now and mad that I got sick so soon after surgery that I'm not having a good time at all. I know i have to just let it run its course, but seriously?! Thanks for letting me whine/vent!!
  2. To throw my two cents in- my surgeon said that when/if they do a hernia repair, the stitch is right up against the diaphragm and that could be why the shoulder area hurts?

    Had surgery today

Oh and anything hot was really difficult to get down, so maybe just try cold stuff for a few more days

    Had surgery today

I didn't have a drain so I can't help you out there. The sip thing is def the same as mine! I even emailed the Dr office and asked if I was doing something wrong because it was hurting so bad! I've had a few rough nights where I cried because it hurt, not because of regret. And now I have some type of cold virus on top of recovery, so yay me lol. Just trying to drink my fluids now that my throat hurts worse than after I woke up from surgery. Good luck with your drain

    Had surgery today

I had surgery on Monday and starting last night was when it finally lessened for me. Every time I tried to sip or have a bit of anything, still on full liquids I thought I was going to die I was so miserable. I still have it but no where near as frequent or severe. Hope this helps!
  6. Well I'm just about ready to leave to the hospital for my vsg, its about 90 miles away so we have to leave extra early. Yay I'll be a post-oper after today!!

    Off to the hospital

Hey all, thanks for the support! I had a pretty rough night. Doc changed my pain meds this am, and am now for the first time since I woke up in recovery I am not in pain! Yay! I might have to stay another night but I am able to tolerate jello. When they brought jello and broth this am, I couldn't handle any of it. I'm doing better though. Have taken 5 walks and it helps quite a bit. Thanks again everyone!

    Missing the "Full" signal

I had an online class and the NUT said hide it in the trunk of your car lol

    Missing the "Full" signal

Hey no problem! I just want to help you figure it out too. My surgery is tomorrow. I've seen a lot of people on here say that you don't start feeling full until you move onto purees. 2T is 1 oz, and the NUT also said take 20-30 mins to eat and then wait 30 mins after that to sip water. Maybe try slowing down? Maybe you're pushing too much through the sleeve and that's maybe why not losing as much? By no means am I any type of medical professional, I'm just trying to bounce some ideas around. You're what 9 days put now? Give your body some time to adjust, there were iv fluids and meds in your system. Plus I've seen on here the 2-3 week stall, maybe you started yours early. Have you taken measurements? Maybe that will help instead of the scale?

    Missing the "Full" signal

How big of a bite are you having? Are you using baby or appetizer size utensils? I believe a serving on full liquids is 2-4 tablespoons. I would definitely ask the Dr or NUT tomorrow and see. I know everyone has different rules.

    Missing the "Full" signal

Hey all. In one of my preop classes, my NUT said that if you get a hiccup, a sneeze, a drippy nose, or a belch (I think) that's an indicator that your tummy is full. Have you been experiencing any of those? Hope this helps

    5'10" - 550lbs / Dr. Quinones

Good luck with whatever you end up doing! I am personally going into the next state, and that's because it's the closest bigger city to where I live, which is out in the middle of nowhere. It's 90 miles away, but he's has a really comprehensive program and he's really nice. Again, good luck

    The Suspense is Killing Me!

Sorry they are not getting back to you! Mine took forever it feels like. I got approved by ins on 9/5, didn't even get a phone call from the scheduler until 9/18 and then the dr didn't have anything open until 10/20, which I ended up with. Good luck, hope you hear back from the office soon!

    A SIP?!?!?

At one of my pre-op classes, the NUT gave us a medicine cup, you know the kind that comes with a bottle of kids cold medicine or liquid tylenol? She said we could use that and probably get 3-4 sips out of that. I just finished all my pre-op stuff yesterday and I have to say I'm beginning to hate the phrase "sip, sip, sip, chew, chew, chew" lol

    Feeling so discouraged

If/when you have the surgery you may not even need to go see the heart doc anymore, and maybe that's why he's so against it, he doesn't want to lose patients! Probably the same with diabetes doctors and the like. My surgery is on Monday, so I can't give you my two cents about the bowel issues but there is something called dumping- when you eat something that has too much sugar or fat or you ate too fast, you can have issues. I suggest you look up dumping syndrome. I've seen a lot of people on here say they sleevers don't get dumping, but the nutritionist I have to see says that's not true, it's just usually not severe as if you had a bypass surgery. My advice is to research, research, research. Good luck with whatever you decide to do
  21. Hey all, I haven't seen any posts about if people's allergies have gotten any worse or better since being sleeved? What about asthma? I have read some about cpaps but that's not really what I am looking for. Thanks!
