Anyone use five hour energy drink during the liquid diet phase

I am in the liquid pre op phase and was told to limit coffee to just one cup daily. I think 5 hr energy has the equivalent to two cups of coffee in each bottle. I think its best to go without caffeine during the pre op diet because you don't want to go through caffeine withdrawal right out of surgery.

Caffeine is also a diretic that actually causes you to pee a lot. You don't want that when it is so important to get in 64 oz. or more fluids every day. I'm halfway through the pre-op phase and having trouble weening off of Excedrin. It also has caffiee. Good luck!

Sounds like a poor choice. There's no food in it and it's full of caffeine which you should be trying to wean off of. Caffeine leeches the Calcium from our bodies. Post op, we already have a reduced capacity to intake and absorb the minerals we need. There is nothing in 5 hour Energy that you need.

Thanks I won't buy it, I don't start my preop diet until October 7!

I decided to cut out caffeine during my pre-op diet, so I wouldn't be going through withdrawal right out of surgery. I was not allowed to have caffeine until 30 days post op, just had my first post-op cup of coffee yesterday! Anyway, while the caffeine in 5 Hour Energy isn't great for pre-op, the Vitamin B is. Your energy level is going to drop a lot, depending on the calorie restrictions of your pre-op diet, so it's a good idea to start taking B12 along with the pre-op diet, since most surgeons are going to have you on B12 post-op anyway. That will help somewhat with your energy levels.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
