Surgery 10/14/14 and i had my first cup of coffee 1 week out. Personally I wouldn't touch Decaf. Also I drink my coffee black. Caffeine doesn't seem to have a huge affect on me.

I read somewhere that regular coffee and Decaf both cause the same amount of irritation / acid, so from a sleeve perspective it doesn't make much different choosing decaf. I drink regular coffee during the day and a decaf with a shot of whisky at bedtime so it doesn't keep me awake and I have no problems. My surgeon said drink coffee as you normally would, if it causes acid / reflux cut down or stop, if it doesn't affect you, drink away!

Apologies just noticed this is a bypass thread. I am talking about my experiences with my sleeve. Don't know how coffee affects bypass patients, please disregard! I can't see how to delete my comment.

I drink one cup of coffee every morning and haven't had any issues and my doc said one cup was fine.

My mom had the RNY about 5 years ago and drinks coffee like it's nobody's business. I think she started a month or so post op.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
