Waiting for approval - Cigna

Recommended Posts

I have completed all of my requirements for Cigna. Just wondering how long the approval process will take. Anyone have any issues with Cigna?

I have Cigna OAP also and had no problems at all. Of course I didn't have to deal with them personally my doctors office dealt with them. But I did receive a cc copy of my surgery acceptance letter just the other day and my surgery is Oct 7. Good luck to you on your journey. :)

My stuff was submitted last Monday and I was told it could take 30 days not really sure why. I've seen other people post they had approvals within 5 days.

I've heard that if you're doing an inpatient procedure, Cigna's policy is that they have to make a decision within 5 business days. If you're doing outpatient, it is 30 days. That is just what i've read on this message board, so it could be incorrect! If I were you, I would be calling them every day to see what the status is!

PS Good luck! I feel like Cigna has gotten better at approving these surgeries, so I think you will be fine! I submit my stuff to Cigna on Thursday so fingers crossed for both of us! :)

Daidai I honestly don't know how long. I started the process at the end of June and went through my 3 months of required visits with dietitians and behavioral aids. My drs office I assume submitted the request to Cigna and it's probably been a month now that I actually saw paperwork that I am approved for surgery on the 7th. I know someone who also has Cigna and has had the surgery and no problems being accepted. I hope you don't have any issues! I met with my surgeon today and did my final bloodwork and pre registered for surgery I can't wait :)) !!

@@resipsa89 I spoke with someone from Cigna yesterday and they said it was sent in as inpatient procedure. I've read the same things on the message boards. I was thinking about calling again on Friday. Good Luck to you as well. ☺

Hi,

My Patient Advocate submitted my paperwork to Cigna last week and I received a call on yesterday saying I was approved.

I hope this helps.

Karen

I have Cigna OAP too and they allow 5 business days to process an inpatient precertification. Make sure you follow up with Cigna and good luck!

Loving this thread! Last 6 month visit for me is 10/17, hoping to have early nov surgery date. Wish my surgeons office would give me a tentative date, as all my lab stuff will expire on 11/22 (since I started in May)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
