AUGUST 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

Recommended Posts

My surgery is on the 19th and I'm going crazy with worry and emotions! I went out today to get ready for next week and bought chicken broth and sugar free Popsicles as well as some apple juice and crystal light. But after day 3, I can move to full liquids and I bought a lot of soups: cream of chicken of course, and cream of mushroom but I also got butternut squash and Tomato bisque and cashew carrot ginger, and sweet potato pumpkin! I also got plain nonfat Greek yogurt that I plan to add some Splenda and cinnamon to and blend it with nonfat milk. I bought some Isopure Protein Powder that I plan to blend into everything because it's totally unflavored. I know I'll be itching to chew something by day 14 but I plan to keep the variety in my new diet as much as I can. I have been on Premier Protein shakes for two weeks and am looking forward to some things that aren't so sweet. Good luck everyone!

How r ya? Ull do fine! My emotions an nerves were all over the place..by the time I was in preop I was taking happy pics an doin happy dance in bed! Headed to surgery room! Had a great team! Ull b fine. If ur having hernia repair also don't b surprised if u have esophagus spasms...mine lasted a wk an I stayed 2 days for iv Fluid I couldn't drink..it hurt to bad first day, by second day I was sipping tiny an tolerating. ..keep us posted! :) I'm 5 wks out 42 down! Worth every bit!!

Thanks! And congratulations on your amazing loss! Do you think it matters that the Soups I bought for postoperative full liquids aren't low or fat free. They range from 2-5 grams of fat per 1/2 c of Soup.

Brand New and my sleeve is scheduled for tomorrow. I hope this isn't the biggest mistake I have ever made. I have a lower BMI so I assume my weight loss will be slower. I just want to be normal in the future and not have to worry so much so we will see.

Hello hello hello. Motherof5 checking in. I am scared as all outback to go and get on the scale tomorrow at my PCP. My doctor will be thrilled that I have lost a good amount off weight since we last saw her. But, I want to be in the 240s so bad. My hubby went to the doctors and he is 236. The last time I weighed myself last month I was 251. I can not even wrap my head around the fact that I almost weigh as much as he does. Anyway, I am going to make sure that I wear light clothing tomorrow.

As far as eating, it is going well. I still do one shake during the day to get my Protein up. I do 1/4 cup of Protein and 1/4 cup of veggies. I also eat bulgar wheat sometimes. I need to add more fruit to my diet though. I love butternut squash and brussel sprouts now. I know, brussel sprouts are nasty. But, you have to add olive oil and season them and then roast the heck out of them. They are delish. Heck, roast all of your veggies lol. Today I am going to try to roast my own chick peas and season them with some chili powder. I am looking for a BBQ taste here.

Exercising. I try to get it in early in the morning. I wake up at 430 and have some of my Protein Shake and I exercise. I like kickboxing videos as long as they are not too hard. There is a 17 minute one that I love love love and I will share the link below. You will do squats and push ups too. I do 2 days on and 1 day off. Unfortunately the weight lose did not combat the arthritis in my knees. So, I need to take a day off.

Feeling great and looking forward to losing more weight in the future.

Later Losers and keep up the good work!

Hello August 2014 peeps. I haven't weighed myself for a week or so but am now able to fit into all lg and xlg clothes. I still find myself drawn to the large lady sizes and I haven't gotten but 1 new top. I still see myself as 270 and can't seem to get around that. It has gotten very nasty and cold so exercise is lacking but trying to be vigilant about what I eat. Hope to see more of you around and Motherof5 you are doing fantastic just keep up the good work. Men always lose faster than us mature women do.

Hi old_rn, this is a little from a guys perspective, you said, "I still find myself drawn to the large lady sizes and I haven't gotten but 1 new top." I had to buy a new coat for this winter, so I bought something a couple of sizes smaller (I was into 3XL). So I tried on the new coat and zipped it up the arms and shoulders fit good but along the mid torso to the waist I thought it was a little tight, but my wife said, "that's how clothes are supposed to fit" After so many years just getting clothes that fit around our widest dimensions, we're not used to things fitting our form as they are designed to. Keep that in mind as you travel this journey, its a powerful motivator. You're doing great, keep it up and good luck.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
