I love this forum especially the statistics it gives me hope.

I am 10 weeks post sleeve and apart from the first 2 weeks my loss has been slow I am 37 lbs down since surgery I lose a pound here and a pound there.

I exercise nearly everyday which I am enjoying, I look better but I guess I had unreal expectations that it would just fall off me.

I try really hard not to weigh myself daily and go for 2-3 days I just feel a little despondent at times and find it hard to believe I will loose the 80lbs I have to go!

I guess I am stressing that my surgeon and Dietitian told me that sleeves only loose 60% of their excess weight and I want to loose 100%

Does the weight just stop coming off after 6 months?

Hey...you're almost 40 pounds down in 2 1/2 months...averaging 15 pounds a month! That is incredible! Most of us could have never done that consistently pre-bariatric surgery. You keep doing what you're doing. Eat right: the surgery gives us Portion Control, you have to do the quality control; if you haven't upped your calories with all that exercise, you need to do that ASAP and get your body out of starvation mode; get your Water and Protein in and don't forget the GOOD carbs your body needs for fuel (especially since you're exercising consistently!). You're doing great. Don't worry about anyone else's progress, but your own. This is YOUR journey. Keep it up girl, because you're doing awesome.

I am about 7 weeks out and down 39 pounds total since the pre op diet began. So technically also "slow" I guess

Couple things

Don't compare yourself to others just causes depression anxiety and it's not worth it

Every pound you lose is done with good lifelong habits which means they won't come back!

So if slow is the way your bod wants to say goodbye to that old friend it's ok.

Its not a race. You any the other people walking and running together are friends not competitors. It's more like a tough muddier where you leave no man behind on the team!

Make sure you are getting your Protein right and your Water

I know that is my biggest challenge. The days I get 80 G Protein I don't necessarily get all my Water

The days I get all my water well I don't get all my protein. Self caused frustration

But the days I hit them both -- omg-- I tend to drop quickly. Like 2 pounds

It's a struggle. But it will come off

Hey, you are losing faster than I ever did and I think I did pretty well overall. And remember - comparisons are the killers of joy. You are doing fantastic. Don't let anyone -- even yourself -- take that away from you.

I am 9+ mos post op. I too consider myself a slow loser. Since my surgery I have lost 63lbs. Since I started on this journey a year ago I have lost 96lbs. I still have 80lbs to lose to hit my goal weight. While it can be incredibly frustrating, just remember every body is different. You did not put on your excess weight the same way as everyone else and you will not lose it the same way. I have a friend who had the surgery two months after me and he has lost 157lbs since December!!! But he is a male and started off at 401lbs. It is so easy to want to compare ourselves and our weight loss. Yet if you sit and think for a minute that is pointless and self defeating. As long as you are working your program, allowing the sleeve to be the tool it is, you will lose the weight your body needs to lose. As I told someone just yesterday, you only fail if you quit. This is a forever situation. You have made a change that will be with you for the rest of your life. Allow yourself and your body some time to do what you need to. You may not lose all the excess weight within a year, and so what? You will be healthier and feel better and weigh less, that I can guarentee. Getting caught up in the numbers will only hurt you mentally and make it a much tougher process. ( Trust me, been there and done that) You are only accountable to you for your weight loss. If you truly wish to succeed you will. It is pretty much that simple. Just never give up on yourself.

Every pound lost is a victory. We didn't pack the weight on in one month, one year, or for some us the weight took a few decades to pile on.

For many of us being able to loss anything, and keeping it off, is a victory. So what if it takes longer... some folks are fast losers, others have to fight hard to shed each and every pound. We are NOT in contest. Our progress is based on our individual achievements, not on what someone else does or doesn't reach.

I have to exercise, and I have to fight to lose weight... but going to the gym makes me feel healthier, and I can see progress, even if it much slower than I'd like it to be. Where I am now is light years ahead of where I was two years ago...

I see you lost 55 pounds... it took me almost two years to lose over 60 pounds... but I feel much better, and my mental outlook is much more positive. Celebrate your victories, don't turn them into being a defeat.

Instead of complimenting yourself on what you HAVE done, you're ragging on yourself for what you HAVE'NT done ! Through hard work and perseverance, you've lost weight and are making your body healthy, strong and unstopable ! That alone is worth a pat on the back , NOT a kick in the a$$ !!!!!! Sorry. I got a little pissy there. I just have trouble with negativity when it should be positive , atta girl, great job , etc..........instead of the " Eeyore Complex", ( the sad donkey from Winnie the Pooh), "poor me, it's not going to be a good day, it won't work out........), excuse me, I gotta go do stuff..............

Try not to compare yourself with others...it's going to lead to disappointment. We all got to our high weights differently, we're all going to lose it differently. My metabolism is different than yours - I may lose faster or slower. We may have different activity levels. Some people that lose very fast don't work out and they may be losing their lean muscle mass - others may be working out vigorously and retaining their muscle mass, but losing inches.

I know it is hard to not compare. I know it's hard to not step on the scale and hope to see a new lower number. In a "had I known then what I know now" moment...I would have stayed off the scale. It's bad for your soul. I take more pictures and take my measurements more. I've hit the exercise really hard in the past week - I can already feel a difference in my body, even though the scale isn't moving.

I think you're doing great! Enjoy this ride - embrace the changes you're making in your life. This process has become so much more than a number on a scale. This has been a life changer and life saver for me. I have my life back - I'm more engaged with my family. I am happier. These are all things NOT related to that number on the scale.

I think you are doing great and the fact that you are also exercising is even better. Maybe this way you won't have all of that extra skin.

Thank you all for all your support-I am not normally a naysay I am proud of myself and if truth be known, in the past, this is probably the time when I would in my diet be talking myself out of dieting!!

10 weeks 37 lbs is NOT slow

"they" say a monthly average of 10 lbs is great :)

the weight loss DOES continue after 6 months

the first 6 months PO is the honeymoon period (where you supposedly lose a lot of weight)

but............... follow the rules and you WILL continue to lose the weight :)

I promise!!! Would I lie to you??? :blink::D

keep up the good work for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life :)

      Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
      I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

      Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
