I like the premier the best. There's also shakeology that tastes super good but it's expensive.

Your request is like asking everyone which rock band was the best in the last 3 decades? Or, which breed of dog is the best? Everyone has a different palate so we all have different takes on so many different shakes.

My opinion, none of them. I've limited my intake of shakes to mostly the first two weeks after surgery, since then not much. Lately I'm gagging down premier and muscle milk pro 50 on days that I'm fasting.

I think Premier is whey. I did the premier cuz they were ready mix and low sugar and high Protein. I make my own shakes now when I want one or grab one at the gym. I do Protein Bars, but, not like I use to.

You are asking to compare apples and oranges. whey isolate is available in dozens of different brands and flavors. Premier is a particular brand of Protein supplement that contains milk Protein concentrate and isolate, Calcium caseinate, as well as whey protein.

From a nutritional standpoint, whey isolate is the most readily absorbed form of protein. It is even better utilized than any real food protein source including eggs, meat, fish, etc. because of that I'm not sure why some nuts and doctors discourage their patients from supplementing with high quality Protein drinks. The milk and caseinate Proteins are absorbed slower, but good for a longer "slow burn" source of protein and energy. This is the type of protein you get from eating and drinking dairy products including milk, cottage cheese, cheese and Greek yogurt.

That being said, I love all flavors of Premier if diluted with milk, Muscle Milk powders, Garden of Life Raw Protein and Raw Fit, Syntrax nectar and Syntrax Matrix products. These provide me with a variety of protein sources, including sprouted seeds.

I am so confused by all the Protein choices! I just finished a bag of Bariatric Advantage vanilla Protein Powder and it was not good. By then end I was choking it down. I want to try something else, but I'm afraid to complicate my recovery. (Surgery on 7/29) I guess it would be easier to figure out which protein products I should NOT use post op? Any, ideas? My surgeons office seems keen on Bariatric advantage so I'm afraid to even ask them (doesn't mean I'm not going to though.)

You certainly dont have to stick with Bariatric Advantage. My surgeon has his own line of Protein supplements and Multivitamins and I never bought them. Just look for something with lots of protein and little to no sugar (the ones I drink all have 23-40g protein, and 0- 5g sugar). There are lots of ways to get samples before you buy a big jug....go to local health food stores or GNC, or order samples from Syntrax, Unjury, Jay Robb, etc. A lot of RTD shakes come as singles or 4 packs in local grocery stores....Premier, EAS Advantage, Muscle Milk....just read the labels and watch the carbs because a lot of the RTD's are loaded with sugar.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
